  • you failed to describe the issue and also failed at uploading a screenshot so I’m not sure how anybody is gonna help you, also I use Astra and Elementor on like 30 websites, no conflict on any of them.

“given enough time” ? people delete pages every second of every day.

Why don’t you test it ? it’s simple, create a page, create a redirect to it, then delete the page, does the redirect lead to a missing page ? yes, it does and it shouldn’t, but at least a little message pops up saying “Add Redirect to improve SEO” but it doesn’t show up because there was a redirect to it.

Would it be that hard to add a feature to detect if the redirect leads to a missing page ?

Turns out it was some server issue that our hosting company’s support staff fixed, something about our website triggered a mod_security rule on the server, anyway they whitelisted it and that fixed it.

OK, it seems it was a server issue after all since the server support guys fixed it, here’s what they said:

On checking your issue it looks like your websites triggered a mod_security rule on the server. This can lead to your website throwing up an error message and/or locking you out of the server.
I have whitelisted the mod_security rule in question for your domain since it was a false positive hit so it shouldn't happen again.

OK, maybe it’s not the latest update, I just had work to do on a website where auto updates is not on, so WP 6.4.1 is not installed yet and it’s having the same issues, so I contacted our hosting companies support.

“Disable Gutenberg” ? I thought you were smoking something for a second there until I googled it, anyway, disabling it didn’t help.

I don’t see what the theme has to do with the backend but I switched to Twenty Twenty and it didn’t help.
I also deactivated all the plugins again (except for the Classic Editor) and it didn’t help.

There were 6 plugin updates, issue was present before and after updating them.

Not sure I used the Developer tools correctly and I can’t say I understand fully what the Network tab is showing but I didn’t see any issues.
    The Console tab however said:

    Missing data from PHP (wpNotesArgs).
    (anonymous) @ admin-bar-v2.js?ver=12.8.1-202348-lite:1

I checked the cPanel error log too and there was nothing.

“revert WordPress” … yeah, sure would be nice to have a ‘Revert to previous version of WordPress button”, I’m not gonna be doing that or restoring a backup, not on this website anyway.

Oh and I forgot to mention on this particular website I can’t even add an image, I click on Add media, select the image and click Insert and nothing happens, if I add the image code by hand and try and save or preview I get redirected to the Not Found page.

@rt1959 I never said I have an issue with the block editor.

Also I don’t have a lot of unused widgets, most of the websites I manage only have the Recent widgets and Categories widget.

Also before the latest WP updated all my themes and plugins were compatible it seems, since I had no issues, and these websites I manage use different themes, yet have the same issue, clearly the theme doesn’t matter, I also deactivated all the plugins, yet issue still present, clearly the plugins don’t matter.

I was expecting you guys to ask me some server info, like PHP version, I guess that doesn’t matter ?

    Hi,

No, I have not tried the lossless compression method, I don’t see a reason to ever use that, it’s the same as an uncompressed file which is way too big.

You probably have WebP compression set to 60 or something, but I prefer 80, lossless compression would be the same as 100, so I might as well not use your plugin and just upload unedited files at that point.

Yes, that website uses Jetpack but here is how an image optimized by me and then Jetpack CDN looks like /dental-emergency-okotoks/ (it doesn’t suffer from the same low quality)

Where there actually users uploading lossless WebP files ? because I don’t see any other reason to have a feature like WebP optimization. I would remove it, if I were you, if you can’t add way to disable it.

I have already disabled the “Auto-optimization on upload”, which fixes my problem but does nothing for the full, un-edited, un-optimized images my clients upload, which is the only reason I need your plugin.

But it’s OK, I’ll just use a different image compression/optimization plugin, I know of at least 1 that has quality sliders.

Sorry, I didn’t have time to wait for your reply, nor was I looking for help, so I immediately uninstalled your plugin and tried something else, and eventually used Duplicator.

So I don’t have any debug log to send you. I’ll try and remember the logs for next time, because I have no doubt there will be one.

    OK, cool.

    (@joegp)

I let them know and they said that is a feature they don’t even use anymore, so it can’t cause any issues and to prove it I not only deactivated the security plugin but I also uninstalled it, then I logged out, deleted all the cookies and tried to log back in, unsurprisingly I could not, but as soon as I disabled AIOSEO in cpanel it worked again.

    Thread Starter JoeGP

    (@joegp)

It seems you were right, I not only deactivated but uninstalled iThemes Security plugin, logged out, deleted all the cookies and when I tried to log in I still got the Too Many Redirects error, and as soon as I disabled AIOSEO in cPanel I could log in again.

    Thread Starter JoeGP

    (@joegp)

Yes, deactivating the iTSec plugin allows me to log in, but before that it was another plugin and before that yet another (after updating plugins) (you can read about them in the AIOSEO support topic in the first post).

But the common conflict seems to always be the AIOSEO plugin, but then again I manage dozens of other websites that use most of the same plugins, including iTSec and AIOSEO, and those never have issues like this.

This is why I thought some iTSec plugin setting/configuration that I did is causing the issue.

Anyway this isn’t really going anywhere so I guess I should mark this as resolved. I’ve been having this issue for at least 6 months, I’ll just have to keep living with it.

    Thread Starter JoeGP

    (@joegp)

@nlpro well since you are not with iThemes like you say I’m still waiting for a reply from them.

Also you expect me to believe the ITSEC plugin does not use the ITSEC method ? then who does ? why is it even in there ?

I don’t understand why I’m only having this issue on 2 of the websites I work on and all the others, I guess I used slightly different configurations for iThemes. I guess I should just reinstall it and start over.

    Thread Starter JoeGP

    (@joegp)

OK, thanks, I let them know.

Hi, Happy New Year and sorry for the late reply.

The system info a couple of replies back already lists all the plugins on the website.

I replaced the salt keys as requested and tried to log in in an Incognito window, unfortunately nothing changed, still can’t log in, same too many redirect error.

I don’t use any of the stuff you mentioned but the security plugin (iThemes Security) does have SSL features (but they are off), but this time disabling iThemes Security did allow me to log in, while having everything else active.
(Disabling AIOSEO also allowed me to log in.)
