So just to close this out on this issue after I sent you the code directly – you can’t see why this plug in was not working for me, so there are no other options but to abandon using it and uninstall? I was a bit confused because you said keep on checklisting but I don’t think I can can I?

If not as I expect thank you for quick responses and taking the time to take a look. I am a bit disappointed as it potentially was a great innovative plug in I really wanted to use.

    kind regards
    John

also the 2nd title doesnt appear.

If you can’t see why that’s ok it’s not that vital for me. I loved the idea of your plug in it’s unique. Good for the user to interact and take something away.

    cheers

Firstly I am remiss in not saying thank you for the plug in, thank you.

No it doesn’t work in my Home page but this might be a theme related issue – there is no bullet point capability so thats probably why.

It still doesn’t work for me in a published post – see https://www.theexcelfactor.com/common-business-problems/
    thanks

Wow that’s a fast response, thank you. That could be the issue as I have only previewed in a post so far – I was trying to use a draft post to prepare the list then copy the list and code to my home page. So can I confirm it should it work on a page before I go further?

    Hi Caspar

Thanks so much for responding. I actually started a new post on this issue and it was resolved. I actually had to rename my plugins folder and then I had got access to the site and install all the plug-ins one by one and I am now all OK. I didn’t reinstall backwpup because at that point I was just glad to get going again and it seemed like for what ever reason it was the problem cause. I straight away did a backup at CPanel so I had a backup somewhere else working (big newbie lesson learned). I will re-instal backwpup again soon.

I can’t close this post as I didn’t start it.

    thanks again

Krishna it is indeed man, thanks so much for your help!

You have made someone very happy today Krishna. I thought I had lost the lot and now I have learned how to back it up and what to do when this happens again.

    Kind regards

Hi again Krishna, the index.php I am talking about was in the old plugin folder I renamed folderplugins_corrupted. See above message of mine 3 back which shows the contents of that folder. It was dated 16 April so maybe another process I haven’t used in the last few days creates it. It’s not in the new plug-in folder.

I suppose I could just copy it into the new folder or perhap I am safer to leave it out? What do you think?

Anyway I will just get your thoughts on above and close this topic. I have learned a lot and you have been awesome Krishna!

Krishna I have answered the back up question myself – I range the webhoster am backing up my site right now on the host’s CPanel while the going is good.

So hopefully the only issue left for me is the index.php file and what to do?
    Cheers

Also if I backup at the hest server end. What advantage is there in a backwpup type plug-in?

Krishna your process has worked beautifully. Thank you so much man. I have installed all but backwpup which I haven’t done yet as I am shy of it now.

I am interested in my questions above:
index.php – it’s not there in the new plugins folder?
backup – do you mean by the Webhoster of my data on his server?

    Kind regards

Krishna at last I am getting somewhere thanks to you, I have seen the Dashboard after days of being locked out.

I renamed the Plug-in folder and it didn’t leave the plugins there to be activated so I guess I will have to download them again and then activate, sound right?

See the list below within the renamed plugin folder – index.php doesn’t sound like a plugin – do you think this file will be generated again in the activation process or will I need to copy this file into the new plugins folder?

    Cheers

OK Krishna thanks so much I will start to do this sounds very logical.

If I need to do the reinstall WordPress manually bit I will need some further help from the right place as no idea where to start as I used an installer to set this site up. So the issue of not installing wp-content understand why but how? And using FTP or your hosting panel – again I can see why but how exactly? Do you have any info on the steps ready to hand by any chance?

Re Backup do you mean after this is sorted right? I have backed up using backwpup and for what ever reason it’s been the problem. Or do you mean backup at the Hosting server end?

Krishna I really want to thank you again for staying interested in my problem especially as I am a novice.

    Kind regards

Yes I did try to login after this. But I think I am still logged in and there is not option I can see to log out. Note I had put my site under maintenance before this Fatal Error occurred so you will see the error messages plus this notice.
