Nothing has happened on this lately. I just passed your response onto my hosting provider for their comment. I’ll let you all know what they say.

I’m still being bombarded daily with emails about the site going up and down. This doesn’t happen wit my other WP sites, on the same hosting, with JetPack. Maybe notification emails are just turned off for those. I’ll check.

Hi again,

My host support just got back to me:

“I can confirm that it’s not being blocked. In relation to xmlrpc.php I can confirm that access is blocked but the jetpack plugin shouldn’t require that to function. I can confirm that there are a number of other websites on the same server using Jetpack successfully.”

What should I do next?

My hosting provider tech support has written back to me:

“I think the developer testing might be negatively impacted by geoip blocking. Can you confirm what country they are based in? I’ll need to see about allowing it full access to the domain.”

Any thoughts?

I suspected the list was manually created with a table.

Q: Can I choose how many blog posts show on the homepage?
Q: I see that Blog pages can’t be customised. So I end up with the blog posts showing on the homepage along with all the other stuff in the blog page they’re drawn from. Can I just have a short excerpt of a blog post display on it’s own?

Oh that’s great. I’d no idea it was so simple.

Even if it does say: “It is up to search engines to honour this request.”

I’m giving that a go and will will see how it works. I’ll uninstall Yoast too.

Thanks for all your time and help on this. I want to keep my entire site out of search engines, as well as the portfolio posts/pages.

If I disable Yoast, won’t Google and others still index my site—unless I use some sort of robots.txt code to prevent it? And if so, do you have a link to a help page on doing that?

By the way, I didn’t find any sitemaps on my site’s server via FTP. Perhaps when I switched them off with Yoast they were deleted. I believe search engines will still index sites without them though.

When I go in to edit a portfolio post now, there’s now Yoast functionality/options in there to change anymore. I must have disabled it in Yoast’s settings.

I just switched off pretty much everything that Yoast recommended I switch on.

I’ll try to track down my sitemaps now too, and delete those.

I am actually using the portfolio post type! And I just uninstalled Yoast SEO plug-in. I can re0install straight away though. Yes, I’d love to hear your advice on that.

Don’t blame yourself. I should know this stuff!

Just to check… was I wrong in thinking that it’s the Comic Easel plug-in that needs to be made responsive. I think now that it’s actually the theme or child-theme of Comic Press that needs to be made responsive.
