I was able to solve the problem. It was my mistake.

I built a 2nd WordPress installation and had the exact same trouble configuring outbound emails via Google.

1. I was able to configure and verify the OAuth connect
2. When attempting to configure the outbound mail, I saw error: verification failed

Yes. I configured my outbound email address and “Oauth” as the mail server type. I then selected the OAuth connection I had already established.

I have the same issue on multiple sites since upgrading to Litespeed cache v3.

In my case, the server is Openlitespeed.
