In reply to: Remove leave a reply in twenty tenget the No Comments on Pages plug-in. It worked wonderfully for me.
open the style.css
do a serch for.widget ul
enter this under the last line of that rule.
list-style:none;
And that’s it. I would make up a back-up copy of the styles.css in case you need it for some emergency.

In reply to: Site almost there, but for a couple issues.I edited twenty-TEN not twenty eleven.
I’ll check out the link you sent me later, when everyone at my house is asleep and incapable of disturbing me.Forum: Everything else WordPress
In reply to: Temporarely "hiding" WPThat was a good suggestion cpanelsup, but when I did it 2 things happened that made it rain on my parade:
I could not get it to display the real index.php
whenever I logged into the admin area instead of the interface, I got a file link/list for the admin area.
My host suggested was to make htdocs protected, so you would have to use a password. But that would defeat the idea of having a “coming soon” splash page like you mentioned.

In reply to: This is my new siteI agree with mrdegges, there is too much on just one page. Most people will not scroll that far.

In reply to: New blog about natural living and green consciousnessIf you do, let me know. I’ll be watching.
Also another suggestion: how about including some information on human generated energy. Stuff like pedal power and at al.
Though not as glorious as solar or wind power, it’s low cost means that the entry bar for that kind of alternative energy is a lot lower and more accessible for most.
No to mention that it’s also a good way to keep in shape while helping out the environment.

In reply to: Looking for feedbackI like it. My only observation is that the tittle of the blog is somewhat lost in the background image. I would suggest making it in a larger font and maybe playing with the colors a bit so it pops out a bit more.
I’m also tempted to say to use an image that has a little more to do with your subject (like some bills, coins, or whatever) but being that the one you have up ties up so well with your color scheme, that is not a big issue.
The other thing I would probably change, and again, that’s just me nitpicking, is to use smaller images on your main page.
But overall I think you did a very good design.

In reply to: New blog about natural living and green consciousnessI have just looked through the options (even looked at the code for the theme), but I couldn’t find any obvious thing to do.
Even though I love this theme, I might change it, because of readability ??I did like the other one better. This one looks more like a blog on gardening or lawn maintenance.
For the option I mentioned do this:- go into your wp-content/themes/theme’s name/images folder.
- Find the background image.
- Open it in a paint program. I would say PhotoShop, if you don’t have it GIMP will do just as good.
- Select the whole image.
- Turn the saturation down, and lighten it a little. How much or how little is a matter of artistic sensibility.
- Save the image
That’s it! No coding needed.

In reply to: New blog about natural living and green consciousnessI agree with roostertail. Another option, which might actually be easier would be to turn down the saturation and maybe lighten up the background some. That would make the picture still visible but less intrusive.
And the best part about that option is there would be no need to mess with the code.

In reply to: Constructive opinion welcomeThe pictures are nice, but like Odayr mentioned the right side is terribly empty.
I don’t know if I would center it and would opt instead to put a sidebar there and lose the page 1 of 2 you have at the top and bottom. To me that means too things, either your friend does not get enough jobs to fill up more pages (which is an impression you don’t want to give) or if I come back a few months later, I’m going to see a whole bunch of pages that I have to click and go to much like in a forum.
As far as the picture pages I would put smaller pictures on them that would open up larger versions of the pictures when clicked. As a web designer, you should know that this move would save you bandwidth, as well as adding some pizazz to your site.Keep in mind that the way you have the site set-up now might be exciting for the people who’s weddings and events you are showing, but those are over and done business. What your site should really be doing is attracting new customers. You have to make people who were not on those weddings want to feel exited and click, and explore and ultimately hire your friend to do their weddings and events.

In reply to: My new blogYou should try to run the whole site on an HTML and CSS validator because I see a lot of errors that are ruining your formating.
The most distracting one is that the side bar is appearing under the posts. On some pages it’s just slightly, but on your products page it’s quite a way down.

In reply to: Blazing Truth — My Philosophy BlogWell not enough where it causes epileptic seizures of course. But speaking as both someone who has dyslexia (mild) and wears glasses and is a web designer too, the text I mentioned seriously needs some contrast.
The only way I could read it was to highlight the text. That is not something most people will do. When I say “sharply” I mean it has to be seen. Much like black text on a white background or vice-versa. On the other hand, I would never use lime green or shocking pink. ; )

In reply to: Blazing Truth — My Philosophy BlogFurthering the debate on design, here is a good rule of thumb: always use text that sharply contrasts to the background. The Red on black, especially with the size font you have it in makes it really hard to read.
I would agree with Gabe in that you should try to use graphical header, but if you want to stick with text, change the color so that the name and subheading of your site POP.
Even more serious is the footer where you have black text on a dark background. I usually test it on several browsers and that text goes from hard to read to virtually invisible, which I’m sure it’s not your intention.
