In this case, I simply deleted line 59 and then (I think) 78 in /home/japancpi/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wordpress-importer/parsers.php and it worked. The second line was from another error that came up after I deleted line 59. I didn’t have a lot of content, so I don’t know if that would work for a more complex site.

Just deactivated all plugins, then reloaded my main page, and no change.

I should note too, that I had a previous installation which I completely removed, and then reinstalled from scratch, before reimporting my content from my backup (which also gave me trouble, though I was able to resolve that). It failed to show me the admin bar both before and after that reimport, though.

EDIT: Is there any way that I can just disable the admin bar? I won’t really be using it anyways, and it wouldn’t hurt me in any way to just get rid of it.

Nope, same problem on the twentyten theme. Thanks for the suggestion, now I know it’s not the theme that’s causing the problem.
