  • For what it’s worth:

I’ve had the stats diagram working throughout ” following setups:
    WP 3.3.2 + JP 1.4
    WP 3.4 + JP 1.4
    WP 3.4 + JP 1.4.1

using WP multisite with 2 sites, a dozen of active plugins.
host 1and1 , linux server, browser firefox 13 and 13.1

    More on this…

the “bad decompression” sounded to me like a lack of space/memory, so I started de-activating plugins (renaming folders on the server from Filezilla). I have about 10 plugins installed, some of which I will replace with Jetpack.

After I deactivated 6 of them and tried again, I got Jetpack to connect.

So it seems like it’s an issue with the host server in terms of memory limits. 1and1 strikes again…

Note to forum admins: it could be useful to close this thread but keep it visible; as I was searching the forums for clues I had found no one with the error “1408F06B”, so this could help the next person facing the same issue.

Following up on the above issue:

When I try to reach [mysite url]/wp-admin/network/plugin-editor.php,
I get a blank page with only :
“Fatal error: Out of memory (allocated 29622272) (tried to allocate 16 bytes) in /homepages/40/d329613672/htdocs/wp-admin/includes/misc.php on line 285

as promised, I post again: going back to version 2.2.2 made the emails work again.

So now I’m running WP 3.3.2 with multi-site on, 2 sites on, and the pluging WP DB backup – version 2.2.2. And the plugin is working.

    FYI, other plug-ins installed:
    Addthis social bookmarking widget
    Akismet
    Contact Form 7
    Health Check
    HTML import 2
    My Page Order
    Revision control
    Twitter tools
    Widget Logic
    Wordpress mobile edition
    XML Google Maps

If you’re in a hurry to get it back working, I’d say just downgrade to 2.2.2 as the latest upgrade does not have security change.
And vote on the plug-in page on www.ads-software.com, to say that it is “not working”!

    Cheers

    Hello,
just thought I’d add my own experience:
running wordpress 3.3.2, with Multi-site on, 2 sites running.
    Host : 1and1

I had setup the plugin for daily email backup.
When I went for the latest WP update (3.3.2) I noticed that emails had been missing for at least 2 months on one of the sites. The other working fine, still sending email everyday.

Same as @brandon: Backup files are still generated everyday,as I can find them on the server, but not being sent.

Will try to go back to previous version, seems like some people solved the issue that way. Will post back here if it works.

    Hi all,
just finished the manual upgrade, took a bit over an hour (1st time to go manual) and it WORKS FINE !

BIG THANKS to the WP team and this support forum for the consistent great work and reliable support. I followed all of the Extended process step by step, i’m now on 3.2. Indeed the interface is much improved.

side note : i’ve been able to confirm that 1and1 sets a limit at 32Mo whatever changes we try to input so for WP users hosted there and having this exact same issue, most likely the only way is to do the manual upgrade this time.

    @ipstenu, thanks for the support.

will go for manual upgrade, and report here after. It seems some users are still having trouble after manual.

(and yes, as I posted it here, i realized it was “the right place”. I imagine now that it’s hard to moderate forums if everyone posts everything twice! I’ll look for the best place to post next time ??

    hi, exact same issue.
I’ve tried the tricks that seem to work with “mono”-site installs, but it gives me that same error. exactly “line 1426”.

memory is set at 32M, but it seems my host (1and1.fr) limits it at 32Mo anyways, whatever value I add in the php files.

not sure if it is quite related, but the automatic update from 3.1.3, with multi-site acivated, does not work.
    Still looking for a solution.

    Cheers
    Jonh

    I should be more precise:
even after deactivating all plugins, and trying to up the memory limit in .htaccess and wp-config, I still get the following error: “Fatal error: Out of memory (allocated 30670848) (tried to allocate 4580905 bytes) in /homepages/[…]/wp-includes/class-http.php on line 1426”

not sure if it is quite related, but the automatic update from 3.1.3, with multi-site acivated, does not work.

    Hello all,
trying to update from WordPress 3.1.1 to 3.2.1, with site network activated (2 sites) I get the same kind of error :
Fatal error: Out of memory (allocated 30932992) (tried to allocate 4580905 bytes) in /homepages/##/######/htdocs/wp-includes/class-http.php on line 1426

    Tried all the fixes like:
    – deactivated all plugins
    – added the line to wp-config.php to up the memory limit.
    – even cleaned the database by removing all revisions of pages and posts (thanks to “Revision diet” plugin)

Did not do the trick, I cannot get wordpress to update and I get the exact same error every time. any clue?

by the way, is it really a php memory error? I have noticed that WordPress gives me “Php fatal error” in other cases (that are now solved), in this case it’s only “fatal error”.
    Cheers
    Jonh

Thanks for the link, rescatista !

It works perfectly, just activated multiple sites on my WP3.0 install (hosted by 1and1).

Haven’t come around to building the second site and messing around with permalinks…. will let you know if there is any effect.

    Hi Kmackaz,

getting the same error, after following the same step.
Except my error message says “450 characters”, instead of 480.

Haven’t tried to display the site on a mobile device yet, will see if there is an impact and if i can find a fix.

    Hi Manaed,

solution provided by KasperSG did work for me too!

be reminded a .htaccess file cannot be created with Word, wordpad, etc…. has to be a rax .txt file in the first place.

I added 2 lines to mine:
    AddType x-mapp-php5 .php
    AddHandler x-mapp-php5 .php

it works fine, all automatic updates dont freeze anymore (WP ‘core’ and plugins).

let us know if that also works for you!

    Hello world…

getting an error in the same format, also when I try to install new theme:
Fatal error: Cannot instantiate non-existent class: pclzip in /homepage/40/[…]/wp-admin/includes/file.php on line 668

    I installed WP 3.0 on a 1and1 hosted domain.

Since I am relatively new to creating websites, I am not sure what it refers to , and whether it has to do with WordPress, with the site host, or with the theme I tried to install.
But actually I have tried to install 5 different themes, and none has worked so far, all bring similar errors. I only have the default theme that comes when installing wordpress.

Does anyone know how to make the setup of new themes work/ how to correct this error?

    thanks

    jonhjonh3000
