In reply to: Linking to another site from blog titleNot at all. It’s a local news group, but I do not have the time to write as much as I would like so I want to provide links to other articles.

In reply to: Merging from another databaseBeautiful! I just realized that the devotion is not correct. I realized when the devotion for today was the same as yesterday, even though the date is correct. The title, “Life Is Like a Vapor” is the first devotion in the database. It was working, so I did not notice when it stopped working so we could know exactly what change caused it to stop pulling from the correct entry in the database.

In reply to: Merging from another databaseThat did it! Thank you very much!
When I first started trying to get this page going ( a looooooooong time ago), I couldn’t get the sidebar widgets to work, so I had to do some changing of code in the editor (probably big mistake) to get it to work. I have since learned a little more about these, but right now in my wp-admin, nothing is chosen in the widgets section. If I drag something over to the right, it looks like this:
https://straightpaths.mzbc.com/
Basically all the images have disappeared. Here is the sidebar.php file which I had previously edited (before I knew about the MiniMeta plugin).

I am sure this is a simple error in the path to the images somewhere probably.

In reply to: Merging from another databaseThat seems to have solved the problem, well done!
Okay maybe one last question…When I click archives or categories, I am getting this error message:Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘}’ in /home/mzbcco5/public_html/straightpaths/wp-content/themes/Theme5/archive.php on line 6
Line 6 is this:
<?php } /* If this is a daily archive */ elseif (is_day()) { ?>
I don’t believe I have ever edited this file. The page looks great! Thank you so much!

In reply to: Merging from another databaseIt looked fine in Notepad++, but it was still on a single line in the WP editor. So I pasted the code from Notepad to the editor, and it worked. So not sure why that happened, but all is well now! I still have the vertical line issue: Screenshots are here:

https://mzbc.com/straightpaths/page2incorrect.JPGCan you see the faint vertical line on the 2nd?

In reply to: Mailing List Plugin HelpIF possible I would even like to have a check box where people could choose if they want to also receive emails when a new post is added to the page. I started using the Subscribe2 plugin to allow people to register to receive email updates for new posts, but that makes 3 different registrations on my page, and it is just way too much!

In reply to: Merging from another databasei tried again with the same result. Should I do something other than use my ftp program to upload the new files?

In reply to: Merging from another databaseOk, we have a problem.
For some reason whatever you did combined all of the data onto one line when I open it up in the wp EDITOR. So i get this error message when I go to the devotions page:Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_IF in /home/mzbcco5/public_html/straightpaths/wp-content/themes/Theme5/devotions.php on line 1

In reply to: Merging from another databaseAhhh I just figured out the width issue…When I go to the page, I go to https://www.straightpaths.mzbc.com. This has the wider margins.
Click the Devotions link, it takes me to https://mzbc.com/straightpaths/?page_id=9, which has the thinner margins. If I click home (which is what you were probably looking at), I get the thinner margins and the web site is: https://mzbc.com/straightpaths/
So https://mzbc.com/straightpaths/ is different from https://www.straightpaths.mzbc.com.

In reply to: Merging from another databaseThere are some extra line breaks on the top of the 2nd page, but I can probably fix that. How would you like me to send the screen shot to you?

In reply to: Merging from another databaseHmmm…wait you couldn’t have updated the server files, so I am not sure how the width issue was corrected. It’s a miracle!! ??
