  • I won’t be installing the 5.6 upgrade after reading these reports of problems people are having after upgrading.

As usual, as soon as a WordPress upgrade occurs, it buggers up your website and you have to spend hours getting things to work again. Really, WordPress should be able to do better than this.

So sorry for all who having trouble. I’m still using jQuery Migrate after all my photos were turned on their sides from the last WordPress upgrade.

I’m having the same problem and blamed the upgrade to 5.5. I find that upgrades of any kind consistently mess with things that have previously been working well, creating additional problems rather than improving anything. I installed jQuery Migrate Helper and the problem corrected itself on a couple of my posts, but I’ve just discovered several others where the orientation of the photos has changed. Strangely, viewing the post on a mobile displays the correct orientation, but not on my Mac laptop. Like you anatralcuriosity, it seems there is no option but to go through each post individually and correct the problem. What an absolute pain.

The update to 5.5 really screwed with everything on my site – photos in my post were turned side-on; unable to use the Add Media button on new posts with Classic Editor activated. Thank you all for the link to the plug-in. Works like a charm.

Thank you so much for your response Riad. Unbelievably, the word archive seems to have removed itself from the post I referenced and a number of others. But it still lingers in some. I can’t seem to attach a screenshot here. It makes me wonder if this is just a transitional stage, and eventually all references to ‘archive’ are being gradually removed.
