I just confirmed what I suspected. I originally installed wordpress in spanish so I don’t have to do all the localization hassle that usually comes with installing it in english (I had never done that before), so I figured that if this was the only different thing in my installation as opposed to the others, then it would probably have something to do with some custom path or something like that.

I basically installed WP in english from scratch and now it works fine. You probably installed it in another language as well.

Can this have anything to do with the fact that I’m using “search everything” plugin? I use it for the advanced search features.

This is precisely the problem. The plugin is resizing the image maintining aspect ratio instead of cropping :/

For example… here’s the widget with thumbnail size limit 263×2000
