Never mind on my question. I found the easier answer is to just use the short code.

This part of the issue is resolved. A plugin called 6Scan wrote a bunch of entries into my php.ini which was blocking the script.

Unfortunately my issue is back. I was able to get global to connect, and now I’m back to the same issue of not being able to sign in with any account. Have tried even logging in with different usernames and nothing.

Keep getting below when clicking “connect to facebook” or “connect with twitter”

Just wanted to give an update on this if someone else has the issue and mod_rewrite isn’t available. I say DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK AND BACKUP YOUR DB FIRST.

Uninstall Social plugin and delete files.

Under your (dp-prefix)_options there will be about 18 social_*** table entries. Delete them all.

Re-install social and voila, no more 403 error and it’s a fresh install without killing all your comments and comments meta.

Worked for me and connected again. I just don’t honestly know if FB portion is working again yet, but we’ll see.

Just as an FYI, I am not on hostgator, but hostmonster and I wrote to them and they said they do not do mod_rewrite scripts anymore. What I find more than interesting is that I have several sites on this same exact host and a fresh install of Social plugin worked on another site. My main site which I have been trying to resolve the 403 issue on will not work. Somehow, I’m guessing I need to do a clean install. I have tried to remove all files but there must be something in the DB holding the conflicting information. I just don’t see any tables in DB for social specifically. I see some entries in “comment meta” but no standalone tables. So here’s my question. How do I perform a truly clean install of the plugin? I think this would resolve my issue.

I don’t understand how this is marked resolved. Still definitely doesn’t pull facebook posts. I guess it’s time to give up on this plugin. There’s no replies to this issue and now I have completely pulled it off and re-installed. Problems just got worse. I deleted the app from my facebook and tried connecting again only to get an “Access to the website was denied” page.

Cheers to the great idea, but it just doesn’t seem to do what it says. Pretty bummed because this plugin is definitely what I’d like to use.

I wish I could be more helpful, but I’m in fact not a coder. The issues seems to still exist. I am on the newest version (2.5) and tweets come in after about ten minutes. I post every post on our facebook page and it’s been a couple weeks with no comments from facebook, which is a public page. There have also been several shares on articles with the same link or re-shared from Facebook without anything showing on site.

I am also having an issue with the twitter @anywhere not working. I’ve had to load @anywhere plus to make this part work. It worked on previous version.

Couldn’t agree more with previous post. We get a lot of pretty amazing plugins from people who tirelessly spend their time developing for us “end users” with no real monetary reward and we should tread a bit lightly on this. I’ll wait out the 72 hours and try to be a little more helpful and specific if I still see the issue. The plugin is amazing to say the least!

Yeah, I just downloaded the latest version and I see no change in the FB side of things. Any updates Alex?
