Hello, it’s been a while since I weighed in. We’ve been limping along with your custom version 1.0.20b for almost a year now (with quite a few tweaks). I remember you mentioned you were going to combine meeting and bookings in a new version of both plugins. Did anything become of this? I am afraid I need to find a new solution soon as the users are still a bit frustrated with this. Thanks.

I apologize for the delay in responding. I had to drop this project for a family emergency. I pulled an all-nighter to get back to speed. The calendar does show both meetings and events – thank you!
I am encountering a few problems, the biggest being:

The calendar shows meetings that have been denied or archived. There is currently no way to delete meetings like there is events, so it seems these are on there forever. Can the query be modified to exclude these? An example: https://stangelabreachurch.org/news/calendar/?timestamp=1501545600#date_4

If I can get this issues resolved, I can deal with the rest. Thanks in advance.

Hi, I don’t mean to bother as I know this is a volunteer side gig for you, but do you have any timeline to accomplish this? That is, being able to show events and meetings on the external calendar? All of my efforts are for a volunteer side gig as well, and they are getting nervous that we don’t have a final solution in place yet. Thanks!

I don’t know if perhaps another option would have more universal appeal – to give the admin the ability to convert a private meeting to an event (they would have to complete the additional fields). The public calendar can then still only show events.

In the long run it may be a good idea to have the same data structure for both meetings and events, and utilize only the needed fields for each.

Yes, if I understand the second option this would be the preferred choice:

You want a calendar of Events that the public can sign up to attend. But unlike a standard Event, you want the public to be able to [submit these via a public page] sign up and go through approval, like a meeting. This will be available for all public to see [if they are set to ‘public’ in the backend].

If this is too much, then the first option with this small addition will work for now:

You want a calendar of [Public Events AND] Public Meetings that the public has entered and staff has approved. People can not register to attend these. This will be available for all public to see.

OK, one last effort before I remove the plugin and lose the effort so far: How difficult would it be to either (1) convert a confirmed reservation to an event, or (2) create a calendar to just show confirmed meeting reservations?

OK, that is a good explanation, and it would have been better if that was explained in the plug-in’s description. I don’t believe this will work for us if that is the case. Thank you for your efforts.

Are you saying there is no way to show confirmed meeting requests on a public page?

Yes, branch and containers are public. I just entered that event via the dashboard and it is appearing. My confirmed reservations are not.

Well I successfully configured the calendar settings, and received ca confirmation message that it was successful. Still, nothing appears on the calendar. I created another reservation and confirmed it, and this on did not appear either. Any other ideas?

That looks like it is the problem. I’m sorry that I completely missed this configuration screen. Will configure and try again. Thanks for helping debug this.

Yes, I’ve created a branch with multiple rooms and containers. As I indicated, I have no problem creating reservations, and confirming them. They just do not appear in the calendar.

Thanks again. Do you know the approximate date you will be releasing the upgrade? I notice I will have to make a few changes (to adapt it to remove library-specific features), but will wait until the new release if it is imminent.

One other bug I notice (let me know if it is worth a new thread) is this warning shown on the calendar page advance search:

OK – I found the problem! The URL for the link to the map was too long. After trying all types of different data in the different fields, this field was the culprit the entire time. I was able to get a correct shortened URL and it works fine now. Thanks again for your help!
