In reply to: Would Like to See Sites using the FreshNews Theme.Hmn… that’s a good question.
I understand what you want, but I’ve never had a reason to do that. I just did a quick search and found there’s a plugin that may help with that.
Try this one…
https://www.ads-software.com/extend/plugins/wp-hide-post/screenshots/I included a link to screenshots of the plugin. It looks like it will do exactly what you want.

In reply to: Would Like to See Sites using the FreshNews Theme. Thanks for the feedback. I’ve really tweaked my freshnews installation at that site. I’ll have to check, but I think i changed the font and probably used something that wasn’t web-safe in my top bar.
I had issues with my slider until I started using the right dimensions. It’s worked great for me since then.
I need to get an ipad just so i can test on a mac.
Thanks for the feedback.
If you want to send me that link just contact me through my site.
Have a good one!

In reply to: Would Like to See Sites using the FreshNews Theme.Wendy,
Ok I did some research and I don’t see any way to do this without getting into doing some code. It can be done, but you’ll probably want to hire someone if you really want to do it.
See https://forum.freelanceswitch.com/topic.php?id=6931
as an example of possible coding solutions.Forum: Your WordPress

In reply to: Would Like to See Sites using the FreshNews Theme.Ok, I went back and re-read one of your posts that I missed. I think I mis-understood something.
An example section you’re talking about is under “Our Hosted Shows” and then “HEALTH CHAT”.
If I understand now… it shows in the menu the way you want, but you don’t want the words HEALTH CHAT to show in the actual post once the visitor lands on the Health Chat post?

In reply to: Would Like to See Sites using the FreshNews Theme.Wait… did you enable the SEO Pack?
From the Dashboard go to Settings/All In One SEO Pack.
On this settings page you should see an option that reads…
PLUGIN STATUSMake sure it’s set to enabled.
If it is already enabled then your theme must be overriding this plugin or preventing it from working in your drop down menus because it’s flash or something.
Let me know.
Sorry we couldn’t get any further.Best wishes!

In reply to: Would Like to See Sites using the FreshNews Theme.Ok…
I was just testing this to make sure I’m telling you correctly. When editing your page, scroll to the bottom.
Here’s the blanks you fill in for the All In One SEO Pack.
TITLE
DESCRIPTION
KEYWORDS
TITLE ATTRIBUTE
MENU LABELWhatever you put in “Menu Label” is what actually shows when visitors look at your page links. So you should be able to keep “Meet Joseph B. Shaw” as your title, but have the menu label read “ABOUT” in your link menu.
Here’s a picture of where I just changed my “MEET JOSEPH B. SHAW” page to show “ABOUT” in the Menu. https://bit.ly/waXQft
If you visit [link in breach of WordPress trademark policy moderated] you’ll see where my menu now shows “ABOUT”.Let me know if that works for you.

In reply to: Would Like to See Sites using the FreshNews Theme. Thanks!
I’ll do a quick trial on my own site and see what’s up.
What’s your site? and which menu are you trying to change?

In reply to: Would Like to See Sites using the FreshNews Theme. You’re Welcome
You’ll want to use the “all in one seo pack” plugin. When you are editing your page you’ll scroll down to the bottom to find an option that let’s you control how the link shows up in the menu.
Here’s a video to learn more about all in one seo pack. It’s a free plugin anyone should consider using to optimize their pages for search engines. It just happens to also let you control how you page shows up in the menu. https://bit.ly/Aq9LnN
Enjoy!

In reply to: Articles linked on Facebook don't display thumbnails imagesI’ve run into this before but someone else was managing the installation and I couldn’t get them to figure this out.
My suspicion is that it has nothing to do with your plugins. What happens if you copy the url of the page/post, then log into facebook and paste the url into an update directly?
If it still won’t show the thumbnails then its not the plugins.
If so it must be something in your server, installation, theme, or security that’s preventing the thumbnails from loading.

In reply to: Please help! Plugin updates messed up admin page.If you move all your pages to the new installation you lose the benefits of any incoming links or SEO to those pages…. this is not usually a good thing.
Have you tried reinstalling your theme?
I would switch to a free theme, then reinstall the theme and see how it looks.

In reply to: Would Like to See Sites using the FreshNews Theme.Wendy,
As far as I know you can’t. You have to be able to add a TAG that tells wordpress to feature this content in the slider.
As a work around. You can make a post that is featured (like normal). Then you could create a page with the same name (so you get a link up in your navigation bar up top)… then you can tell wordpress to forward any traffic to that page directly to the post.
You can either manually edit your .htaccess file to create the forward or use something like the Simple301Redirects plugin to forward from the page to that post.
Here’s a link to a video that shows how to do a simple 301 redirect.
https://bit.ly/AxOBiGIf you do this… it will allow you to have the slider show a graphic featuring the post, and have a link up top that shows the page… but behind the scenes if people click on the link to the page they get forwarded to the post. It’s all invisible to the user.
This may sound complicated but is really easy to do.
Let me know if you have any questions.

In reply to: My site content is gone, why?If you change your permalink structure all your posts and pages will now be in a different place.
Be Careful if doing this on an established website as you could be negatively impacting any incoming links to your website.
If you have any established pages with inbound links from other sites, changing the permalink structure actually moves the location of the page. Any visitors who clicked those links to your site would now get 404 ‘Page not Found’ errors.
This will also affect your rankings in Google if pages are moved.
If this is needed for your site – there is a solution. You can do something called a permanet 301 redirect. Which basically redirects any requests for page X to the new location of the page.
If you need any help with this, just search on “WordPress 301 redirect”. It’s basically a 1 line change to your .htaccess file.
