Ok, I lied. It was working, now it isn’t. If anyone has had any luck with a fix, would love help. Thanks!
Hi Chris, I just reinstalled WP and it worked. Try that then snoop around, maybe there is something else?

In reply to: [Restaurateur] Problem with WidgetI was able to fix my issues by doing a backup, turning off all plugins and reinstalling. Hope this works for you!
Hi Paul, Thanks for this – Reinstalled WP, then found another setting that I had not seen before – it all works now. Thank you so much for responding!!!

In reply to: WP does not save the widgets in the widgets fieldsI did the reinstall, then found a new setting in a plugin. The combination of changes got everything running again. Mine is a wowthemes theme promoted with great tech support but with no tech support whatsoever. Tricky.

In reply to: WP does not save the widgets in the widgets fieldsSame thing here. Not a new install. This is an auto-update that was a surprise and now I can’t get any changes to widgets to save. They seem to save but the new settings don’t appear on the site. I’ll try reinstalling manually as suggested and will update afterwards.

In reply to: [Restaurateur] Problem with WidgetI am having the same experience. Any and all settings to widgets no longer save. They appear to but when viewing the site, the changes are not made. Just had an auto-update to 4.1.1 and this started happening. SOS!
If you could point me to where I could change this in the code, I’d do it. Not ideal but I need to get the site running while I figure out a workaround or another sort. My company’s busiest time of year, naturally! ??
btw, I reset the loops as suggested but it didn’t help…

In reply to: Automatic UpdateWell, I’ve got it working again in Firefox but not Chrome or IE which may be a cache issue. I have dumped cache in both but am unable to see the updates that I see in Firefox. Odd, but I’ll continue to investigate. Thanks for the plugin. i had no idea that WP was going to update automatically. Harsh to come to the office in the morning, only to find the website no longer functions. With any luck, that won’t happen anymore with this plugin and I’ll have an opportunity to backup before any updates. Thanks again!

In reply to: Automatic UpdateHi Bernbe, I only backup weekly so will lose all of my changes for the past week which is troubling, of course.

In reply to: Multiple instances of dropdown categoriesThank you again, BC! I have made an executive decision to forego the 2nd instance that uses the page builder. The first instance only works if I also have the dropdown list in the “bottom”/footer area. I replaced the instance that was part of the page builder template with a table of category links – plain old html code. It works and I have to do it so I can move on to getting this thing live. I really appreciate your assistance!!!

In reply to: Multiple instances of dropdown categoriesHi BC, Thank you for this. This makes sense to me except that I’m not sure where this would happen. One instance (the first one) is in the page.php template file, one is post content as built with a page builder block which I believe is a widget. The third instance is a widget with “bottom” placement, aka placed above the footer.
They don’t need to be able to select multiple categories, it’s more of a UI issue in that it needs to be seen wherever they are on the home page.

In reply to: [Customizr] Private posts still show on home pageI’m having the same issue. WP 4.1 and private posts are still showing on the home page.

In reply to: wp_dropdown_categories in a template fileThen for the widget, I used Simply Exclude which is not current for WP 4.1 but it worked to exclude category ID’s from the widget.
