In reply to: Locked OutNo sorry, I may have wrote wrong topic heading,
In a way yes, I am locked out because all I get when I add wp-admin to the addess bar is a white page.
I can’t change the scripts so I can’t change the theme. I disable Esete but thats no different.
Thanks!
KDoes anyone know if this will be resolved, I have tried both the Twentyeleven and the Twentytwelve, took out two plugins. Nothing works.
Its strange because you create the post, try to add image then it shows the error. On looking ta the post after saving an image shows on the trendy theme but not the full size.
Its not the upgrade because I just upgraded a site to test and the Images work on https://mybichonstar.com/kynismarmissmillie/
Last week I had to abandon my Football site because admin was not accessable to create posts. Not even if I told my Esete to disable protection it would not work.
Something is wrong at WordPress too, its took me ages to get a new password, its kept saying bad gateway.
Thanks!

In reply to: leave a commentLooking at the screenshot, thats what I had been used to before the new version, now its missing when you make a new post.
So in screen options what there is is discussion, you tick that and your option to allow comes into view.
At that point there is no comments in the screen options to tick/untick.The allow/disallow comments does not work on the new install of WordPress.
On katecorner WP its not a problem.

Goodnight and thanks.

In reply to: leave a commentI have done the first deletion which changed nothing,
<span class=”comments-link”><?php comments_popup_link( __( ‘Leave a comment’, ‘twentyten’ ), __( ‘1 Comment’, ‘twentyten’ ), __( ‘% Comments’, ‘twentyten’ ) ); ?></span>
Tomorrow I will edit the below:
Note: you will need to remove/modify that code in several places in “loop.php”.
Chip the leave a comment is on the blog post . The page where after you click publish you go to look at what you wrote.
alchymyth; we were thinking that we had to uncheck there in screen options to rectify the comment.
I *will be back tomorrow…hopefully with a result.
Thanks very much both of you. I really am grateful for your valuble help.

In reply to: leave a commentI have tried two themes and they are both the same ‘leave a comment’.
At the moment its on Twenty Ten..default.
On cold blue theme I have removed comment.php and in the three styles, took all the comments from the style sheets. Any code that has comment has also been removed.
I should not have this problem. Everything is available to prevent comments without touching any code.
In the screen options comments is not available to prevent comments every post but in any event I have said no comments in settings.
As for

In reply to: leave a commentNope,
This is stupid…unticked comments, still no joy.

In reply to: leave a commentHya,
At the end of the posts there used to be ‘allow trackback’ allow comments, thats not there any more.
I have done everything to eliminate the words but its not happening but why when one older WP is not leaving a comment, same version the new install of WP does.
I have said no comments, I dropped down the screen options. In my old WP katecorner I need do nothing else once no comments have been setup.
Thanks anyway alcymyth. Nobody can do anything, its all done what can be done as far as it goes, unless a comments.php file can be edited.
Thanks very much for your reply.
Ok, I found where the allow comments is via screen options. I can try a new post showing that but its already not ticked in my earlier new post so I don’#t know if it will work in a new one..going to see what happens now.

In reply to: I have no idea what I’m doing. Help!Ah!
WordPress gives you two options for themes. Default and classic.
If you want more then upload to your host in a new directory. You would do the above in wp_content ->themes. Once tyou have uploaded the themes files and images you can then go to admin -> appearances -> themes and choose your new theme.
Mind you, your with a free host and maybe you must choose one of their themes. You may also not be allowed to touch the CSS till like at wp.com you buy credits.

In reply to: Sidebar ProblemNo Figaro!
The only theme thats working without breaking the sidebar is xenoria. With the other themes all is well till maybe 50 posts or thereabouts then its like..enough.
Funny thing is, the one post that activates the sidebar to drop if I take that out then the sidebar comes back up..strange.
And whats with the sidebar sometimes appearing at the right when reading a post?
Maybe its down to how good the creator is at creating the themes. I have to say that because everything in Xenoria remains where it should no matter what you look at.
Thanks anyway Figaro – have a nice day!Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Image in sidebarHello flowersp,
Send your image to the server (your host) then you need this tag:<div align=”center”><img src=https://www.your image.com/directory/image width=”150″ height=”94″ border=”0″alt=”name of your image!”/></div>
You go to the host (yours) and find the image in the file manager..could be legacy file manager and click on the name and a new window will open you then need the address for both where your excerpt is and the image..highlight the address then add it to your tag.
The in your wp admin click appearance ->editor-> sidebar usually before the opening
- tag.
Good luck!

In reply to: Smilies – Blank BoxesHi Chrisber,
The smilies are where WP thinks they are now.
Or no, is there a place to update the url as I don’t usually mess with WP.They’re supposed to be in wp-includes/images/smilies and thats where they are now.
Thanks
