No one? I’d love some advice — could this be an upgrade problem (the tags are different now), a sitemap problem, an all-in-one seo problem, or something unrelated?

Should I just wait and hope for the best, or is there a way to write to Google and find out what happened?

No, no errors. The export page loads fine, I can pick an author or all from the drop down, and hit the export button. A window opens asking me to save a file — with proper name and date — but when I do, the file is empty. It’s either 1 or 0 kb. The same thing happens regardless what option I pick for “restrict author.”

Apparently, it’s the tags that make it hiccup a little — I was using a tag that was also a hidden category, and that’s what made the post disappear. I might yet have succes with ACE…

Actually, it’s messing things up after all. Posts that are supposed to display don’t show no matter what I try. Looks like I’ll have to look for a different solution.

They were private, but the category visibility plug I was using isn’t supported by 2.3. So I just want to be able to browse them locally at my own leisure, but delete them from the site. Honestly, the XML export would be good enough for me, but it stopped working — so I’m looking for some sort of other way to keep a readable archive on my local machine.

I’m experimenting with creating an archives.php template that does what I want but I can’t seem to include the comments there, and saving every single post page by hand will take way too long.

I realize this is a bit of a stupid problem, but it’s a problem nonetheless…

me too. my export is broken, and I suspect the cruft from old plugs might have something to do with it…

I have the same problem with 2.3. I get a blank xml file.

OK, I cleaned out the plugins folder completely and Dashboard seems to be working now. Thanks again. I’ll repopulate it very carefully.

Any ideas about the export? I realized that it wasn’t working on my 2.1.2 install either. I used phpMyAdmin to backup my db, but it seems odd that the built-in export gives me a blank file.

Looking for this, too — I have posts in categories that need to be deleted, so a “delete all posts in category” would be just the ticket. Is there a way of doing that in phpMyAdmin?

Looks like this was an issue on the server’s side.

Apparently, it was the Bad Behavior plugin that caused this problem.
