In reply to: Dashboard Missing ItemsIs this too obvious, or too weird? If I wanted to re-upload the responsible files just to make sure it has nothing to do with that, would I just reup all of wp-admin, or are there specific files I could look at?

In reply to: WP can’t show list of PagesWe’ve tried to use the import/export function of 2.11 to see if that might fix the problem. We tried it on the same host and another server, with clean installs. One host refused to import at all, the other imported but the problem remains, with everything else being straight out of the box: https://jurgenfauth.com/awfj/
The only thing we can still think to do now is to start over fresh and copy/paste all content. If anybody could save us from that fate, we’d kiss their feet.
If you really want to get into it, you can take a look at the WP XML export here: https://jurgenfauth.com/awfj/awfj-export.xml

In reply to: WP can’t show list of PagesThanks again. I’m positive about the default theme. The leading spaces don’t seem to be a problem; I removed them and the problem remained. The pages also contain some ugly HTML, nested font tags etc, but it wasn’t a problem before.
The error logs appear to be empty. I’ll have to wait to contact my host to find out about php memory.

In reply to: WP can’t show list of PagesThank you so much for the response, HandySolo. The default theme breaks right where the pages should be displayed, even when I don’t turn on the widgets plug. I’ll switch it over if you want to take a look: https://awfj.org.
I was using the chameleon theme, which shows the pages as horizontal nav bar. It shows “home” and then stops. When I use a theme with widgets and don’t put the Pages widget in the sidebar, the page renders fine.
I don’t know how pages are treated differently in 2.1x–is there something about the pages themselves that could be breaking WP? We used leading spaces in the header for sorting.

In reply to: WP can’t show list of PagesYes, it is… I figured I try over here. I’m not sure which forum is the right one, so feel free to delete one of the threads. I think this summary of the problem is more succinct than the other one. Thanks.

In reply to: Incomplete Page after UpgradeHi again.
I spent all day messing with this, deleting all WP files and reconstructing the install from scratch with only the necessary theme and plugs installed, and everything up to date.
The problem is still the same: WP cannot render a list of pages, anywhere. If they’re in a horizontal nav bar, it crashes. If they’re in the sidebar, it crashes. If they’re in a widget, it crashes. It doesn’t even show them in Options> Reading. It shows them in Manage >Pages only if I search for them.
I’m desperate now. Please help, anybody?

In reply to: Incomplete Page after UpgradeCan anybody help with this? This is a fairly busy non-for-profit site I’m helping with pro bono, and I’m completely out of ideas. Something is very wrong with displaying pages — in any theme, and on the options > reading page, and I’m not sure what to do.
Thanks again.

In reply to: Incomplete Page after UpgradeActually, thinking about it now, I realize that the pages must have something to do with it. I took another look, and themes that display pages in a horizontal row across the top don’t display properly. The themes that do work only work when I don’t put the “pages” widget into the sidebar.
The site does contain a large number of pages, probably around 100-200. Only a few of them — about six — were in the top level that displayed on the navigation menu though.

In reply to: Upgrade EmergencyI reuploaded the database backup, and now it seems to work better–I can get into the admin interface and the site loads more or less correctly.
Now there is a mysterious error message that reads:
Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /home/jurgen/public_html/wp-content/themes/freshy/functions.php on line 298
Also, all umlauts and special characters have been replaces with question marks…?

In reply to: Error: Could not find the template functionI’m getting the same error in a brand-new install. I’m using firefox 1.5; on Safari, everything seems to be ok.

In reply to: Remove Single Page from MenuSame thing here. Seems odd that there isn’t an obvious way to do this? Any help would be much appreciated.

In reply to: MT Import: Excerpt to Custom Key?For displaying the custom field, this plugin seems to be the ticket: https://www.coffee2code.com/archives/2004/06/30/plugin-get-custom/
Now I only need to figure out an easy way to batch-copy all excerpts to the custom field… I assume there’s a way to do that in MySQL but I’m really scared of messing that up.

In reply to: MT Import: Excerpt to Custom Key?I figured out the second part of my question–the category visibility plugin does what I needed nicely: https://ryowebsite.com/?p=46
As for the first part, I’m still pretty confused what to do with the ratings, or how to handle or display them in WordPress.
