Thanks for the report – yeah, I’m aware that Pages are no longer working well. I’ve reported it to Facebook, and in typical fashion, they’ve simply ignored it.

Unfortunately, although I’ve spent years rewriting things over & over as they change & deprecate & move things, it’s just become impossible to keep up with their seemingly endless breaking changes. Most of my time with this plugin these days is spent behind the scenes responding to their endless “platform review” demands (they e-mail every few months asking to do things like give their “reviewers” admin access to demo sites, answer long lists of questions regarding data usage, provide demo videos, agree to lengthy terms, even get on zoom calls) – all for the privilege of not having API access cut off. It’s simply no longer possible for me to spend time fixing anymore, given that essentially all of my “plugin time” is now chewed up jumping through their other policy-related hoops.

Based on your description, it does sound like you’re still able to fetch page albums by directly finding the id via other means (just not able to search for them). If you have an easy solution, I can add a descriptive blurb to the admin panel the next time I post an update (about how you find those ids, for the benefit of other users). But unfortunately, I don’t really see myself spending time trying to fix search again, as Facebook has just taken all the joy out of development, & each time I’ve done so, they simply break it again a few months later anyway.

Sorry, I know it’s not the greatest answer. I had a lot of fun making this plugin >10 years ago, but in the past few years especially, the Facebook platform has become an utter nightmare.

Individual theme issues are out of scope. If you need help customizing the CSS to mesh with a particular theme, I suggest contacting a frontend web developer to help.

This is out of scope & not related to the plugin – you have misconfigured https on your site.

get_option(“siteurl”) is returning http rather than https.

You can google for solutions to this general wp configuration issue – i.e. https://stackoverflow.com/questions/45255445/ssl-fixed-content-why-is-not-returning-site-url-in-https-scheme

Looks like the issue is just a newer PHP version – perhaps you’re the first one to be using PHP 8 (or just no one else reported it).

I just pushed a new version 1.5.0, that should fix it.

Still would need to see it with no plugins (vs almost no plugins), & one of the standard themes, so I can look at the source & see if I can find any differences

Right, I was saying that if I can see the broken guestbook (on a default theme & with all other plugins disabled), maybe I’ll be able to notice something.

However, it looks like the site is already live – if that’s the case, it may not be feasible for you to leave it in that state until I can take a look. Which might mean you’d need more realtime help from a developer.

If it’s not a live site though, or if you have a staging site that you could set to that state for me to check out, I can take a quick look for you when I have some time

Just to clarify, the URL was never any use to *me*.

Offering to investigate what’s wrong with your site was purely for your individual benefit. Considering how there’s been zero such reports from any other user, & also no functional code changes in over half a decade, it’s pretty clear that the issue is somewhere in your WP setup. Otherwise, if “Guestbook is totally broken” per your first statement, it’s hard to imagine that not a single active user would’ve said something (neither before your report, nor since).

Probably browser issues, or a conflicting other plugin or theme (no reported issues from any other users, & I just re-verified the login flow). Try a different browser, & try it with all your other plugins disabled & using one of the default WP themes.

Please try it with all other plugins disabled and with the default WordPress theme. If that works, you should be able to pinpoint the source of the issue by reactivating them one at a time.

The guestbook has been tested with WP 5.8.2. If you’re having an issue, my best guess is that it might be a conflict with another plugin or theme, but as you’ve provided no specifics at all (no error message, screenshot, details on whether or not you’ve replicated the bug on a default instance, etc), I can’t really guess at anything beyond that.
