Thanks, Jack. After looking into it some more, it appears the email is just getting bounced back as spam. Definitely not a problem with this plugin.

Thanks for the suggestion, Jack. It looks like the emails are indeed being sent out by WP, and a new test post triggered the notification like normal.

My question now is what might have happened in the process of creating a new post that would make it bypass the New Post Published trigger? I notice the post that didn’t get a notification sent out has 2 revisions. Is there something you’re aware of, like saving a draft, or scheduling a post, that would make that trigger get skipped?

Also, is it possible to manually set off a trigger? Specifically, I’d like to send out a notification for this post that didn’t originally get one.

Thanks for the suggestions bcworkz. I was under the same impression that registered users shouldn’t be having any comments moderated.

I tried deactivating every plugin. That didn’t work.

My theme was the default twentysixteen with very few CSS modifcations, so I knew that wouldn’t be the issue. But I still tried going back to the default theme (with plugins turned off) and that didn’t work.

I tried deleting and reinstalling all core files (everything except wp-config.php and the wp-content directory, as per steps 7 and 8 of the official upgrade process). That didn’t work.

Then I tried changing my search strategy for a solution and came across the Never Moderate Registered Users plugin. Worked like a charm and solved all my problems. I still have no idea what the original problem was, but the plugin fixed it.

Thanks for your help Jason. I had tried using the ready function you mentioned before posting here, but I still couldn’t get it to work. After your suggestion, I tried a little harder, and succeeded!

For those with a similar problem, here’s what I did.

I had to install jQuery on my site (which was much easier than I expected), loaded jQuery in the footer of my page (although still within the body tag), took my script out of the HungryFEED settings, wrapped it in that ready function, and stuck it right after the jQuery loading script. Not too difficult at all, and now it does exactly what I hoped.
