In reply to: [WooCommerce] Image Caption ProblemI’m still waiting for a resolving response on my ticket but I’ll let you know if anything turns up helpful. I also suspect this is a glitch from a recent update.
Support suggested I use Captions (which also doesn’t seem to render on mobile iOS). Also not looking forward to going through hundreds of images to add Captions, when Alt Text was rendering just fine before. Good luck.
Adding Captions does work. I see now that I will need to go back through all my images and add Captions in addition to the Alt Text that was previously sufficient.
Note, however, that Captions are not working on iPhone Safari or Chrome browsers. So, there’s that. This seems to be a recent glitch following the update.
Can you please let me know if that suspicion can be verified or if, going forward, this will be the expected behavior of Alt Text and Captions?
I use Storefront theme and I’ve never previously added a caption for my additional product gallery images. It’s always been Alt Text, which is now required for accessibility. There’s never been an issue before by doing it that way, until now. The Alt Text had always appeared under the images.
Why has it changed so that it no longer appears? I can do the caption, if that’s what I need to do going forward. However, that doesn’t solve the problem for me for all my hundreds of prior uploaded images where the Alt Text had always displayed. I guess I’ll have to add captions to all of those too, even though they’re already have Alt Text?
It sounds like you’re saying the Alt Text (from now on) will only appear if the image fails to load. Is that correct?
Also, I see that someone else had recently posted about the same issue happening. And that person uses Captions and says that it is also no longer showing. I’ll try your suggestion though and will update this. Thank you.

In reply to: [WooCommerce] Image Caption ProblemI’m having the same problem with Alt Text no longer showing. I posted a separate help request just now.
FINAL UPDATE: Well, I finally figured it all out. Disabled Vaulting, activated Advanced Card Processing. Then in PayPal settings, I actually disabled PayPal Account Optional.
Now on the Checkout page, customers can select the radio button for Pay by PayPal or Pay by Debit/Card. If they choose Debit/Credit, the payment info fields display on the same page with the Pay Now button. Very easy and convenient to not have to leave the page.
If customers choose to pay by PayPal, there’s one button at the bottom (unless Venmo also appears). This takes you to a pop-up window and the customer can either sign in with their PayPal account or create one.
Now, the reason I had to disable PayPal Account Optional is that previously when customers clicked the PayPal button, the pop-up window allowed them to sign in to PayPal (or create an account) AND the option to Pay by Debit or Credit Card. That was confusing because they already had that option on the Checkout page!
Also, more importantly, before I disabled PayPal Account Optional, the Order Confirmation (Thank You) Page kept appearing on the same PayPal pop-up window and not closing. Therefore, after final payment, customers were seeing 2 open tabs. The first tab was the Checkout page from my store and the second tab was my store’s Order Confirmation that PayPal pop-up window redirected to. This occurred on mobile and desktop on Safari and Chrome browsers. After disabling, the pop-up window closes after payment and now only the Order Confirmation appears on my site.
I hope some of this info helps others. I used PayPal Standard for 13 years without issues, so this was quite a learning curve.

In reply to: [WooCommerce] Order Confirmation Page Customer Note Shows in Price ColumnUPDATE: I checked some Order Confirmation emails from previous test purchases going back a couple years. It seems that notes by customers always appear in this small column. So any text that’s more than a few dozen characters will probably expand the box. But it’ll definitely look awkward and be a little harder to read.
It would be easier on the eyes if the Note portion was merged into just one cell or have the Note appear in the wider first column.
This issue is resolved for me but I’ll leave it open for now, in case Support might like to respond.

In reply to: [WooCommerce] Order Confirmation Page Customer Note Shows in Price ColumnYes, just like your screenshot above. The Notes that a Customer would add in the Checkout page.
I was testing actual purchases on my live site and added the customer note. The Order Confirmation email I got shows the Note in my Price/Total column. I’ll share a redacted full screen shot if you still need one.
Thanks Zubair!
ANOTHER UPDATE: I think I got it sorted out. I did another live test paying by credit card and it went through. Not sure exactly what finally pushed it through, but I’m going to continue testing a few more times. I’ll come back here and mark this as Resolved once I complete further testing…
UPDATE: I disabled Vaulting and enabled Advanced Card Processing and activated it on PayPal by clicking on the documentation link. At first, that seemed to do the trick as far as immediately allowing customers to enter their debit/credit card info without leaving the checkout page.
However, during a test purchase on the live site (not Sandbox), I keep getting a spinning circle on a white overlay on the page. It never processes and I’ve tried several different purchases using different credit cards.
I’ve cleared my wordpress cache as well as my server cache, cleared sessions, etc.
Interestingly, the pay by Venmo option worked perfectly fine. So it seems this is a debit/credit card issue. I haven’t yet tried paying using a PayPal account for payment.
Thanks for the explanation. My settings for PayPal account optional is “On”. My understanding is this setting to On will allow debit/credit cards OR PayPal (not just PayPal).
I’ll disable Vaulting and experiment some more. I just want to get rid of those persistent PayPal account creation prompts (I’ve come across even more versions of them while trying to solve this issue.)
It’s just so frustrating because I’m having to reassure some customers that they don’t have to create accounts. Furthermore, I’ve had to walk a few of them through the payment gateway because they want to make sure they’re doing it right.
I don’t understand why the process changed. It was so simple before for customers to use debit/credit cards. If disabling Vaulting simplifies the process, I’ll let you know. Thanks again.

In reply to: [WooCommerce Shipping & Tax] Never connected this plugin to WordPress.comLet me simplify my question: Can I just continue to only use Woocommerce’s built-in settings for Shipping methods and manual Tax calculations instead of this plugin?
I would like to delete this plugin if it’s not necessary, and more importantly, because I don’t use Jetpack anyway. However, I’m concerned that if I delete this plugin, my original settings will somehow break. Please advise, thanks.
Thanks for your response. Should I be concerned that it’s also publicly viewable? When I put it in my browser, it shows all the coding. It’s a small retail site; that’s why I’m a little nervous about it.
I’m having the same problem. Wordfence sent my Free license to the same email I’m using to create an account so I can purchase an upgrade to Premium. However, it keeps saying “Error: Your email address is currently being validated. Please try again in 30 minutes.”
Can someone from Support please respond and tell me what I have to do to purchase an upgrade. Hopefully, the support that comes with Premium is responsive as well.
