After more Googling and diffling, I figured it out. All fixed!

Did that. Compared my edited version to the original single.php line by line and identified the culprit. Fixed!

Really? That’s my only option? I’ve customized it SO much I’d hate to start over even with a fresh copy of the same theme. Anything else it could be than incompatibility?

Thanks for the suggestion, but that’s not the fix I’m looking for. I don’t want the whole post and all images in the e-mail. I want just the first photo and a summary. It’s how the e-mails used to be, then one day the photo stopped showing up. I didn’t change any settings and then poof. Any other ideas?

Whoa! It just magically disappeared. It was there 5 minutes ago and I didn’t do anything to change it. Very, very weird. Well, let’s hope it doesn’t magically reappear. Thank for the help!

Yup. My theme doesn’t natively support menus and any custom menus can only be added as sidebar widgets, so I can’t touch the nav bar through menus. Any other suggestions? I appreciate it!

Okay, I disabled CSS on a single post in Firefox and I definitely see the sidebar there. Does that mean that something in the CSS is keeping it from appearing? What should I be looking for in which CSS file?

Hmm, I don’t see any conditional in Sidebar.php that might be the culprit, and I haven’t edited comments.php. CSS or plugins are another story. I’m not too familiar with CSS. What CSS did you disable or what should I be looking for? Thanks for the help. I appreciate it!
