    Thanks Roger. It was just that Jetpack was reporting that Really Simple SSL was not loading properly and suggested I review it. I thought that maybe deactivating the free one would be okay as I had the Pro version, but obviously it’s still needed.
    Anyway, after my site going ‘down’ and ‘back’ for most of the afternoon yesterday, it all seemed to get up and stay running late last night, and is all good today – and Jetpack’s message about Really Simple SSL has disappeared. Perhaps there was wider problems with my host? Let’s hope it’s resolved itself, and at least I know I need both free and pro SSLs to be activated! ??

    Thanks, jodzee – that works for viewing the site, but I still cannot enter edit mode without getting the “critical error” message. I notice in the Forum that this is happening to others, so I hope the Jetpack programmers are onto this – everything else I have tried has failed.
    A friend has suggested using FTP and deleting the Jetpack folder, but that may be beyond my capabilities … :-/

    Many thanks pewgeuges.

    I’m not very confident with all this css stuff, but I have fixed the problem using your suggestion of removing the line top:0.5em !important;

    Note, I wasn’t able to remove that line under the “Priority and CSS” tab (it just kept re-appearing); however, when I removed the line under the “Referrers and tooltips” tab, all was fixed!

    Happy now!

    ??
