Scratch that – Firefox has this problem as well. It just seems to work sometimes and not other times. This is pretty annoying.

I had this problem with IE, and Safari but not with Firefox – that seems okay for me.

Your solution wasn’t for me, I think we had different problems. The 2.5 update fails to create (at least in my case) an index for the comment_date_gmt column in wp_comments. I found the answer here.
Basically load up phpMyAdmin, select your wordpress database, click on wp_comments and find the column “comment_date_gmt”. Click on the index button in that column (in phpMyAdmin it looks like a lightening bolt).

I’ve got the same problem. I use the comments widget for each post but it’s a pain in the ass having to look at “comments awaiting moderation” on the dashboard and not being able to do anything about it.
