  • Roman,

Glad it worked out! Sorry for the inconvenience caused in the meantime :]

    Peace,
    Chad.

    Hi Roman,

I can’t discern what could be the problem. The only thing I can think of is that your host doesn’t allow certain permissions that audiobar needs. What host are you using now?

I will definitely forward this to Carlo and see what insight he can bring us.

    Chad.

Ok! Sorry it didn’t work out. Hopefully when the new version of Audiobar rolls out, all of these little bugs will be fixed – and you can use it to your heart’s content!

I will forward this to Carlo and we will work on a remedy for this problem.

    Chad.

    Hi,

Although we haven’t experienced that issue exactly, we do know that Audiobar doesn’t always play nice with iOS – and we’re trying our hardest to remedy that. A few question to help us out: which iOS version are you using? Do they not scroll up/down, or also left/right? Are there any other plugins you use that may be inhibiting audiobar? Finally, is this a mobile version of the site or the full site?

A link to the site would be helpful, if possible.

Carlo (the programmer for the plugin) has full mobile support pretty high on his to-do list. That being said, I’m not sure when we could assure you full mobile support. Thanks for your support!

    Hi akadhim :]

When you link to the audio files on someone else’s page, you are just using <a=href''> HTML tags, right? If you edit the post and view it in HTML mode you can check the tags around the URL.

I tried it quickly and when my files were hosted on wordpress it played in audiobar, but the externally hosted file only come up as a link. I seem to be encountering a different outcome than you…

Have you disabled Audio Player? If both of the plugins are trying to handle the file, that may be the problem.

If it continues to be a problem after disabling Audio Player and using <a=href''> tags, I will forward your question to the programmer to get see if we can get to the bottom of this!

    Peace,
    Chad.

    Hi!

Sorry about the delayed response. Carlo and I are working hard on Audiobar and it’s sometimes hard to get back to the forums.

I am working on a new Audiobar theme that will change the position and look of Audiobar, so it will no longer take up the whole top of the page. Unfortunately, I’m not sure when this will be released because Carlo is still working on some code.

Do both of you have a header that stays at the top of the screen when you scroll down? Or does the header scroll like the rest of the page? I can see how a “floating” header may be a problem, even in the future.

Also, please provide links to both of your websites

    Thanks for your support,
    Chad.

    Hi everyone,

Sorry for the delays. I just responded to this same problem in another thread, but I will repeat the info for the sake of ease.

Audiobar uses something called iFrame to make it play continually. Audiobar needs to put a “#” in the URL in order to do that. Without this, the music would reset when you change pages. There may have been a conflict and your custom permalink included a hash or some other code that conflicted with iFrame.

Any of you who had the problem – can you post what the custom permalink was that you were using? I personally am using a custom permalink with audiobar and I don’t have any problems so I figure it must have to do with the link formatting itself…

Ko Ko Win, you are having a different problem. After some research, I found out your problem is with the host – I think your hosting is running your PHP in safe mode – meaning that they don’t allow certain changes to be made. My advice would be to contact your host (godaddy, webmasters, bluehost, etc.) and ask them to take off the restrictions.

Alternatively, you can re-install wordpress manually to reset some permissions. That worked for some people. There are instructions to reinstall wordpress manually here: https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Upgrading_WordPress

    Thanks,
    Chad.

    Hi,

Sorry for the delay. Carlo and I have been working on Audiobar and sometimes it’s hard to get to the forums.

I am personally making a brand new custom theme for Audiobar that will be much bigger than the current bar. No fear! Your problems will be solved as soon as we upgrade to the new theme.

I can’t say exactly when the new version will be released because it depends on the code – and Carlo does that. Thanks for your patience and support with Audiobar :]

    Sincerely,
    Chad.

In reply to: Audiobar No Longer working

    Hi guys,

Thanks for your help fanciullino. Carlo and I have been working hard on Audiobar and every bit of help … well, helps!

luaelectro22, the problem may have come from the iFrame code that Audiobar uses. Audiobar needs to put a “#” in the URL in order to let Audiobar keep playing across pages. Without this, it would reset when you change pages. If there was a conflict and your custom permalink included a hash or some other code that conflicted with iFrame, that’s probably why resetting to default solved the issue.

For the future, what permalink structure were you using? It will help us troubleshoot future problems.

    Thanks!
    Chad.

    Sabine,

Carlo and I are glad you enjoy the plugin! Thanks for waiting – we are working hard to make audiobar beautiful.

To “hack” audiobar to autoplay, you have to create a new file, put some code in it, and put it in a specific folder.

First, open up “notepad” or “notepad++”. A program like this will let us edit code. Paste this code into the new file:
    <?php $autoplay=1; include ABSPATH."wp-content/plugins/audiobar/templates/audiobar-bar.php";

Now, save the file as “audiobar-bar.php – and remember, instead of saving it with a .txt extension, replace .txt with .php

You can put that file on your desktop for now. Now find your WordPress installation (whether it’s on your own server or hosted by wordpress or DreamHost, etc.) There will be a folder for your website (in my case, chadwimberly.com) and inside that you will find a folder called wp-content. Then you will find the themes folder. Inside the themes folder, look for the folder of the theme that you are using. Put the audiobar-bar.php file in that folder.

If you don’t know how to get into your wordpress installation, I can give you some instructions to do that. In short, download FileZilla – an FTP program. Once you open it, put your website in the field titled “host” and use your server username and password to log in. Then you can edit the files like I’ve instructed.

Hope this is all clear! I will be trying to monitor the forums more closely in the future.

    Thanks,
    Chad.

    Hi qtpros and orenlebbo,

Sorry for the extremely delayed response! Carlo and I have been working hard on Audiobar and it’s sometimes hard to get to the forums.

Audiobar will only play content that’s listed on the front page of your blog. Any mp3 files you link to on your front page (by either just posting the URL or hiding the URL with <a href=""> tags) will show a PLAY button next to them and, when clicked, it will play just that one song. If there is more than one song on the page, you will have to play each song manually.

    Does this answer your questions?

We are currently working on playlist options and hopefully that will come to fruition soon…

    Thanks,
    Chad.

Hi! Sorry for the delays. Carlo and I have been working hard on audiobar and sometimes forum posts slip through the cracks.

Can you both provide links to your sites and note which version of wordpress you are using?

And are either of you using Jetpack? There have been a few cooperation problems between the two plugins.

    Thanks,
    Chad.

    Hi hhwwilsons,

Sorry for the delayed response! Carlo and I have been working hard on Audiobar and sometimes the forum posts slip through the cracks!

Can you link me to your site so I can check out what’s going on? Are you using Weaver or Weaver II?

Are you multi-siting? If so, Audiobar doesn’t support multi-site yet. Working on that.

    Thanks,
    Chad.

hey dbass. I was having the same problem and noticed that your response went unreplied-to. I emailed the author and he had this to say:

I’m aware of the bug, just hadn’t the time to fix it yet… I’m afraid right now your only option is to wait until I make an Audiobar upgrade available.

He didn’t mention when that would be, but he also said that it will be as soon as he can. So… now we wait! If anyone else finds a way around this (I have already tried updating the memory manually and via a plugin), let us know.

    Peace.
