Thanks for your helpful respose.

My problem was caused by a recent change of servers from Apache to Litespeed.

In my . htaccess file I forgot to change the following code

AddType application/vnd.google-earth.kml+xml .kml
AddType application/vnd.google-earth.kmz .kmz

to

AddType application/octet-stream .kml .kmz

My Google Earth maps are now downloading perfectly.

I contacted my server (Hostgator) and they fixed the problem very quickly.

A PS to my previous post.

I can backup the database, and I can backup the Themes, Plugins and Others, but I get the error when backing up the Uploads.

Brilliant! I changed my configuration to “Universal” and I started counting events again.

One curious thing though. The problem of not counting events only started last month, but it was a long, long time ago when I changed from “Universal” to “Global site tag”.

Which is the url of your site? https://walkinginfrance.info/
When you go to “Advanced” tab, which Analytics type is set? Global Site Tag
