Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Username and Password LostI did it!
If this will help others, here’s what I did:
I used my FTP program (Fetch) to open up the site, and opened up the blog folder where I have WordPress installed, and started looking into folders.
In the wp-content folder, I found a folder labeled “cache.”
Inside of “cache” I found a folder labeled “userlogins”
I used a text editor to open the files I found there until I found one that had my information in it. The code contained enough clues that I figured out the username and login from there.
Now I think I need to upgrade to a newer version of WordPress and a widgetized interface. But that’s a question (or probably a whole slew of questions) for another thread.

In reply to: Username and Password LostI’m having the same problem for a blog that I’ve been neglecting for a long time. I went to sign in, and of course the cookie was no longer working to remember the username and password. I’ve tried every possible username/password combination that I can think of. WordPress doesn’t even remember my email address, and I tried all possibilities.

I tried the “Register” link, and while that gets me into the dashboard, I have no administrative permissions so I can’t post nor do anything else.
Forum: Installing WordPress
In reply to: username & password lostI have the same problem. I set my blog aside for quite a while and now when I try to log back in, the username and password that I thought I was using don’t work. I’ve tried every iteration of every username and password that I commonly use, and nothing is working. Is there any way to retrieve a username and password from either the WordPress files on my site (which I can get to) or from WordPress Support?
