I am wondering if I have not deleted everything properly and perhaps there is something affecting things as I did not have these problems the first time I set up the site so I don’t think its the theme.
Right now the site looks different in chrome and internet explorer and also the bar over the top doesn’t show in either.
I am going to restart my pc and clear all the internet history and see if this makes any difference.
I am getting really frustrated.

I am using chrome and it is not working on my pc.

I have just tried using internet explorer and I am getting directed to the artificer theme for wordpress instead of the hosting company…so that’s something.

However I’ve noticed that if I type the https://www.karenmc….etc address into the address bar it then jumps to the address https://karenmcil…..etc

Is it okay for me to continue on this basis as the other sites I look at just keep the https://www. address and don’t jump like this.

Also one other question can anyone recommend a book or a site where I can learn how to use the whole ftp and control panel of a website and what all the directories are for. At the moment I am trying to learn by trial and error and its not ideal.

I know I will be fine once I start on artificer as I had a half decent looking site before I lost it all!!

I have had to reinstall the whole thing and start from scratch .

I could not sort this out any other way as I am not confident in what I am doing.

Before I start to work on the site again I just have one more problem which I had posted in a new post but asked to post here instead.

If I go to

https://www.karenmcilwraith.co.uk I am taken to my manage my hosting login screen

if I go to

karenmcilwraith.co.uk it takes me to the site which is correct.

However I want to be able to type in https://www.karenmcilwraith.co.uk and be taken to the site and don’t know how to sort this.

I want to sort this out before I start editing the site as I have already lost all my work once.

1. I have deleted it from the public-html folder

2. I have reinstated the original that i backed up to the www. This is where it was originally. In there I have

www
Basic
cgi-bin
wp ….which is where my wp folders are now.

Please could you possibly help with what to do next?

I have tried to set up a new directory in the public_html folder. I called it https://www.karenmcilwraith.co.uk/wordpress but although I name it this it actually shows up as https://www.karenmcilwraith.co.uk without the wordpress on the end.
Am I doing this right.
I really need someone who is prepared to talk me through this step by step as I’d like to master it myself if posss.
