Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Sidebar content missing in Internet ExplorerI have the same issue. I just updated to WP 2.84 from WP 2.3. It was working fine in the older WP version. It works in Firefox, chrome, etc., but my sidebars disappear in IE8.

In reply to: Changed Theme-now can’t log inOK- I have spent hours self-teaching my newbie self.
Here’s what I did for posterity:
1) realized that I can enter by https://www.mydomainname/wordpress/wp-admin
2) once there, I added a “Meta” widget which gives me a log-in directly from my home page.
Now I have two log in options.
PHEW.

Did you try installing your WordPress right from GoDaddy’s
Hosting Connection. You’ll find that in your Godaddy Hosting Central
under “Content” it’s in the drop down menu. From there when you are at Hosting Connection, Click on blogs,
then you’ll see WordPress, Click that.It seems like it’s best to install WordPress right into the root directory.
GoDaddy will then send you a confirmation when it’s done.
(Took about 10 minutes for me).HTH-

In reply to: WordPress and go-DaddyGodaddy doesn’t support WordPress, even though you can get it
installed with their hosting service.I always just call the reps live. Some of them are really familiar
with WordPress, so they can give you unofficial help. (Make sure you fill our a real nice survey about them). One of the things I had to do was to:
1) switch from windows to Linux
2) get a dedicated IP server (and extra $3/month)
3) change the domain name to one that I’m not using right now
until my site is done. It kept pointing to my WP.com site. But I didn’t install my WP to a root directory but a sub-directory (https://womanwize.net/wordpress). So you all are saying that if we are installing our WP site through GoDaddy’s system, that we should do it directly to the root? I intend on having all 6 of my sites eventually on the server.

In reply to: Where to install when testing? One option is to do domain forwarding. Work on your site, then when it’s done forward the site to a domain that you own.
This is an option i’m considering, since I’m not very tech savvy.
Forwarding the domain may negatively affect your search engine listings, but I’m not sure by how much since you are hosting the

In reply to: Changed Theme-now can’t log inI installed WP the way it was recommended in the world famous
easy install. There is an install through GoDaddy’s hosting connection. So I installed it in site root/wordpress. I will eventually have several sites on the same server, so that made sense to me.
Again it wasn’t a problem earlier today – when I used the WP default theme.I did double check the URLs:
Blog address: https://www.womanwize.net
WordPress address: https://womanwize.net/wordpress
Whenever I click- “visit site” from the dashboard I get the FTP error page. I double checked at my hosting (GoDaddy) and everything is FINE on their end. They have been very helpful today.
It doesn’t matter which theme I use – NOTHING shows up.
ANything else I should check??

when I type in this:
https://womanwize.net/wordpress/wp-admin/I can log into my dashboard (phew), but then the site disappears
and I get a “page coming soon”. How can I tell if it’s an issue with the theme, or if it’s another problem.BTW- the site is : https://www.womanwize.net
Thanks again
