In reply to: Image code showing in postIt turned out to be a plugin called Automatic Links that was no longer compatible with current WP.

In reply to: [My Calendar - Accessible Event Manager] Eliminate “label”But where do I do that? I generated the shortcode but there’s no instruction on where to put it. Do you have some sort of instruction manual that tells the how/where for this sort of thing? I’m really liking your calendar and see future use besides my trip. Will be making a donation when Social Security check hits the bank.

In reply to: [My Calendar - Accessible Event Manager] Eliminate “label”Great so far. I even figured out another question before I had to ask it. Now, https://www.bassett.net/blog/
Click on an upcoming event
Click on View full calendarIt goes to current date instead of Sep 2018. Where do I change that one?

In reply to: [My Calendar - Accessible Event Manager] Eliminate “label”Thank you. Now, how do I get https://www.bassett.net/blog/my-calendar/?cid=my-calendar&month=9&yr=2018 to show the Mini Calendar and Upcoming Events like you have on https://demos.joedolson.com/my-calendar ?
And lastly, is there a way to have “Travel Itinerary” default to a specific month (in this case Sep 2018)?

In reply to: bulk delete subscribersWell, a couple hours later, I’ve finished deleting subscribers 400 at a time, on all six blogs (more than 400 gives an error).
I’ve also taken the checkmark out of “Membership Anyone can register” on the General Settings and the checkmark for “Allow people to post comments on new articles” in the Discussion Settings.
Now, to see if that stops all the spam messages to my email, that have been going through Akismet.
Case closed for now.

In reply to: bulk delete subscribersI’m slowly but surely deleting them 400 at a time, so nevermind the SQL. Someone sure needs to make a plugin to bulk delete the users.

In reply to: bulk delete subscribersRegards the registration in the widget, someone on a list I’m on solved that. Under General Settings, I had to take the checkmark out of “anyone can subscribe.
Regards SQL, I had found and tried this: https://tinyurl.com/kr2wrqa but it gave me an error similar to the one in the single comment (can’t remember exact message now).

In reply to: bulk delete subscribersThanks for the tip about number of users. Haven’t gone down less than 500 yet, but even with that, I’m getting “Request-URI Too Long. The requested URL’s length exceeds the capacity limit for this server.”
Side question – In primary widget area, I need the Meta so I can do the admin log in, and people can do an rss feed. But I see no way to eliminate the “Register” portion of the meta. So even though people can’t comment, they can still register. How do I get rid of the ability to register?

In reply to: bulk delete subscribersI want to know the same thing. I’ve got over 8000 spam subscribers. Deleting them 20 at a time just doesn’t cut it.

In reply to: Pictures in blog using twenty-tenTurns out I didn’t need to disable them. On the other list I mentioned, someone said:
> Look in the backend of WP under Settings, Media. Depending on what
> version of WordPress you are using there will either be just a checkbox
> “Organize my uploads into month- and year-based folders” or a path
> where you can set it.I looked at the Media Settings as suggested and where it says “Store uploads in this folder” it had a really long path similar to /../../../../ etc and underneath it said “Default is wp-content/uploads”. So I changed it to that (wp-content/uploads), and that did the trick!
No idea how that /../../../../ etc got there, as I didn’t do it. But it must have happened a long time ago.

In reply to: Pictures in blog using twenty-tenI said 6 blogs that all use Twenty Eleven and I meant 6 blogs that all use Twenty Ten.

In reply to: Pictures in blog using twenty-ten>> ” flush any caching plugins…”
I know how to flush browsers etc, but what is meant by this?
>> ” deactivate all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s). Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems”
“switch to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems”There are 6 blogs that all use Twenty Eleven, and all have the same 7 plugins active (after I disabled ones I wasn’t using):
Akismet https://akismet.com/
Automatic Links https://www.superann.com/2009/03/04/wordpress-automatic-links-plugin/
BackUpWordPress https://hmn.md/blog/2011/05/09/backupwordpress/
Collapsing Archives – plug-in site is a dead url, but the plug-in still works
Fast Secure Contact Form https://www.fastsecurecontactform.com/
Google Search widget https://automattic.com/
My Link Order https://geekyweekly.com/mylinkorder/Only 1 of the 6 blogs is giving me a problem. The other 5 blogs behave the way they are supposed to.
I’m on a list where someone said:
> Well the first thing that strikes me is this probably isn’t WP’s fault.
> The second thing, “is the file in its directory’. So I would use FTP to check.
> If it is not, this probably means something deleted them (a bad upgrade?
> Server hiccup?) they are not being named correctly (seems unlikely).
> Check your file permissions at the server and the file paths (absolute and
> relative). Now I think we are on to something.
In this screen capture: https://www.dropbox.com/s/iiv7wdjm0nog9qk/1.jpg the pirate pictures that are the only ones showing, are visible via ftp in the following directory:
wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2008/02Of the non-visable ones, the others that are 2008 are August but there is no 2008/08 folder. And there are no 2012 or 2013 folders for the ones that are 2012 and 2013.
I’ve tried both the drag/drop method of uploading the jpgs and the browse to location method. Something is obviously keeping WP from creating the upload directories in which to store the jpgs.

In reply to: Where is Google Search widget?no, but I finally figured it out. I can’t get at it directly from the dashboard. First I had to go to https://domain/wp-admin/plugins/widgets/gsearch.php and activate it. Then to https://domain/wp-admin/widgets.php where I can add it.
