Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. But yes! We are compatible with both your current version and with 7.0. I will note some nonspecific errors that seem to be increasing with newer versions than 7.0 – I haven’t been able to isolate if those are evidence of incompatibility or just a function that needs to be further optimized because of changes.

I’m sorry for the delay in getting back with you on this. The main plugin is completely free so you don’t need to purchase it. We don’t support the premium extensions on this forum.
In answer to your specific question, though, the answer is that you can control how many backups are saved to the server (setting it to just 1 if you want) but you aren’t yet able to save NONE of the backups to the server. At this point, saving the backup to the server is a step in the process of saving any number of backups to a remote destination if desired. For that reason, for now, we save at least one backup to the server.

I’m sorry you’re having a trouble getting your backups to work. Unfortunately this can be caused by a number of different issues, so let’s start with some basic troubleshooting, okay?
Try following some of these tips to see if we can help isolate the issue you’re having:
– can you run a database-only backup?
– how about a files-only backup? (create a new schedule if you don’t want to edit a current one)
– If not, try to exclude your /wp-content/uploads folder, then run a manual backup. Does this work? If so, we know the size of your backup is probably hanging up your server.
– If you can, try disabling all other plugins, and switch to a default theme if possible as plugin conflicts can occur. Does that help?Let me know what you find out and we can troubleshoot from there,

@autool – could you give any further insight as to the wp-cron error you received? Was it server side or because of a plugin – or tied to the php5 config file on the server? I agree our error handling and reporting could be much improved and am adding that to our to-do list going into the new year.
@wpannier and @jupiter9 – if you are still having issues, would you be able to enable support on your BackUpWordPress admin page on your sites to send me a message through that support module? I would receive a bit more information from your server that way and hopefully be able to help you further troubleshoot!

I imagine this is being caught up in one of our exclusions for either “backups” or “updraft-plus” because it’s matching the name instead of the full file path. We have an outstanding issue already to try and work on a new way to set up exclusions so we can match it against the full pathname instead of a filename – I’ll add this to that issue and see if we can’t try to work toward a solution in the new year.

and missed that the other constant would also change that variable! Now I feel horrible because I know I’ve told other people wrong before ??Thank you for the screenshot and for telling me! I do think it’s something we should address in a more concrete way – I’m going to open a new issue up so we can explore it better.

I didn’t realize that caused issues – I’ve been playing with the exclusions to see if I can improve our default behavior there. I’ll also test and see if other special characters might be excluded as well. Thank you for letting me know – I’ll try and follow up on this as I can! ??

I’d say you can usually make the file backup part easier and simply replace the wp-content directory with the one from the backup, unless there are special directories and differences in your install. ??

The only php.ini values we change are changed within the backup directory and not to the rest of the website, so I’m not positive how that value would be set otherwise. Are you able to trace it otherwise? Perhaps at the wp-config.php level?
