Same problem for me. Actually a theme should not require any plugin…

After studying the errorlog of my site’s admin interface (example: Fri Nov 28 12:12:43 2008] [error] [client 12.34.56.78] SoftException in Application.cpp:252: File “/home/abcdefg/public_html/pension/wp-login.php” is writeable by group) I saw that some files in the WP folder had chmod 666 set
After chmod those files to 644 with the ftp client the problem vanished.

putenv('TMPDIR='.ini_get('upload_tmp_dir') );

In reply to: Can’t delete PluginI had the same error today with hosteurope on a fresh install of wordpress Ver.2.6.2. The issue seems to depend on their setup of the user’s temporary directory system AND maybe the username:password used when updating/deleting plugins – I’m not sure yet and have to analyze errorlogs…

In reply to: WP does not automatically generate Thumbnail for Uploaded Image?In the case of me it may be a wrong server setting with umask for the thumbnails. I found a arr ‘hack’ at https://trac.www.ads-software.com/ticket/4151#comment:3 which solved the problem. If you examine your thumbnail files on the server and they have a 600 instead of the correct 644 permission then the link above helps you.

All runs fine after a fresh install (standard About and Hello World) but as soon as you enter only one new post I’m waiting for around 40 seconds to get the next page and it’s going on like that. I thought it being an issue with WP 2.31 therefore I installed WP 2.23 too besides to test the issue and narrow it down – same result with that version.
I deleted the tables in the MySQL database to reinstall of the tables and it’s fast again! So – is it a MySQL bottleneck?
I put phpinfo and MySQL server variables on my own site as reference.
I’m driving nuts for four days now…!
