Hi @wfsupport
Thanks a lot for your help and for explaining what a nulled plugin is. I’m going to check all my plugins and get rid of everything suspicious.
After following your instructions, the problem has been resolved, and my Wordfence plugin is finally functioning.
Thanks,
Katrinhi @wfscott,
I did exactly as you said and the scan failed again. Here is the activity log info:

I’ve sent all three files.
Please let me know if you need anything else. Thanks,
KatrinHi @wfscott ,
Yes, I’m still experiencing the issue.
My hosting provider is Bluehost.Thanks,
KatrinHi @wfgerald,
Yes, I just tried to re-do the scan and received the same message.
I checked the full log earlier today, and apparently, the problem appeared on Oct 8th.
I tried everything that is mentioned on wordfence.com/help/scan/troubleshooting/, but so far, nothing has helped. ??
Best,
KatrinHi again, @wfgerald
I started receiving the same message for the rules update as before:
“The last rules update for the Wordfence Web Application Firewall was unsuccessful. The last successful update check was September 10, 2019 7:50 pm, so this site may be missing new rules added since then. You may wait for the next automatic attempt at September 14, 2019 7:28 pm or try to Manually Update by clicking the “Manually Refresh Rules” button below the Rules list.”
When I try to manually refresh the rules, I receive the following message:
“Rules Update Failed. No rules were updated. Your website has reached the maximum number of rule update requests. Please try again later.”
Would you tell me why it is happening again and how to fix it?
Hey,
Thanks for your help! Everything, including the automatic rules updates, is working now.
I’m marking this thread as resolved.
Best,
KatrinHey @wfgerald,
Thanks a lot, the message finally disappeared, and if I try to update the rules manually, it gives me that all the rules have been updated successfully.
However, if you don’t mind, I would prefer to wait for the next automatic rules update to be completed before I mark this thread as resolved.
Thanks,
Katrin
Hey @wfgerald ,
Do you mean the entire folder /wp-content/wflogs or only the file rules.php in it?
Thanks,
KatrinHi @wfgerald,
When I try I receive this message:
“No rules were updated. Your website has reached the maximum number of rule update requests. Please try again later.”
How long should I wait for to I try again?
Thanks,
KatrinHi Gerroald,
I’ve just sent it.
Thanks,
KatrinHi,
My WordFence version is 7.4.0. The last rules update for the Wordfence Firewall was unsuccessful, and when I tried to manually update them, I couldn’t. Then I checked some of the previous topics and in one of them was written:
– that I should delete the rules.php file in wp-content/wflogs – I did it and it didn’t work.
– then, I also asked Bluehost to check if they’re not blocking something on their end (some ports that were mentioned in one of the comments in the other topic) and they told me that everything looks fine on their side. Now, I cannot even download the rules. When I try to do it, it tells me to check the connection of the website with WordFence, which I know I have because I can see my website domain in my WordFence account.
Please help!
