Anyone? I would appreciate any help.

Once you get the issues above straightened out, the file you want to edit will be the “sidebar.php” file. You will find it in your wp-content directory. You can edit it in your theme editor in the wordpress admin panel. Adsense deluxe would be a good plugin to utilize for adding your adsense.

My cpanel has wordpress available for installation via fantastico. I have wordpress installed for all my domain names.

Do other web hosting companies not offer this? My hosting company is pretty cheap. I struggled with installing wordpress myself until I decided to explore the cpanel. I found wordpress and many other programs under fantastico. Very simple installation that way.

Then that is the one that I have. I downloaded it recently from your site.

I’m not convinced that the problem is with your plug-in. I think that I have done something to the settings, or perhaps another plug-in, or something. I have always in the past just used the php include from rssfeedreader and it worked like a charm. Still does on all my other sites. But on this one, I can get no php include for rss to work; not rssfeedreader, not the wp include, not other plug-ins.

Thank you for your efforts to help. Any help trouble-shooting will be appreciated.

But I get the same error even when I put in another rss address.

And what do you mean by “I’ve got much newer code here?”. Was there a link there or what?

    Thanks for your help.

Thanks, ‘con 31, that suggestion helped. The pages still don’t display flush as I would prefer, but this is an improvement.

Yosemite, thank you for pointing out the “errors” of my ways. I am not sure how to correct these validation errors in these dynamic/php pages. For static html pages you just correct source code. I’m not sure for this site where or what to correct. Any suggestions as to where I might find help w/this? A web resource, perhaps?

    Again, thanks,

    Kay

Use your FTP program and change the permissions on the theme files (header.php, page.php, whatever you want to to be writable, usually 777.

If you don’t know how to do that, perhaps someone else can explain better.

Personally, I look for simplicity, minimalism. Don’t want to have a lot of “junk”. I usually look for at least 3 columns so that I’ll have room for affiliate banners and adsense, as well as rss feeds.

I’ll have to confess something here, though – I’m a theme whore. Anyone else have that problem? I get a site together, customize my theme, etc, and then find another theme that I like better or that I want to try. Or, I’ll have a theme working ok and a glitch will come up that I can’t work around, so I’ll switch themes.

Maybe wp makes it too easy to switch themes!

Hey, thanks for the prompt replies! I’m sorry if I was unclear. I meant that I am unable to change anything without going into theme editor. I understood that, with guru manager, you could change certain things such as color, nav bar, etc, through the link on the blog page (after logging in, of course). I see these links and click on them but no page appears to allow me to change anything. These links do not work for me.

    Thanks again for your efforts.

Well, now I get this error:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function: is_wp_admin() in /home/kaylowe3/public_html/wp-content/themes/gurumanager/sidebar.php on line 68

    Whattup w/that?

Any idea how I might be able to get into my wp “dashboard” so that I can change themes?

    Thanks,
    Kay

Now bear in mind that my mastery of html is very basic, and knowledge of php is barely rudimentary. However, I have uploaded and edited themes. But gurumanager does not work for me. I upload it, activate it, but it won’t allow me to change anything from the browser. I click “change banner”, “change color”, etc, and it does nothing. It really seems like a great theme, but something’s not right for me.

    Any ideas, GM?

    Thanks,
    Kay

    Way cool!

Sorry, I can’t help you with the coding, etc. I do like the design.

Can anyone help? I cannot figure out what to do. And I won’t be satisfied until I do.

    Thanks for any help.
