After some googling it was apparently introduced in version 4.8.

I installed WordPress via Softaculous. I don’t have any plugins that would make the events display. They started appearing with one of the WordPress version updates, but I don’t remember exactly which one.

Thanks, but after days of fruitlessly trying to wrestle the theme to my needs, I ended up going with another one, so I can’t test your suggestion (but I do remember the home page being set as “portfolio grid”, and still displaying as default template as long as it was set as home page).

Ok I figured it out – setting a page as front page is what disables showing the portfolio images. Whichever page I set as front page, it gets forced into a default or similar template that doesn’t display them.

I couldn’t solve it with Jetpack, it didn’t make sense why some rules applied and some just didn’t, so I disabled the custom CSS feature, and used a child theme to achieve the same result.

W3TC completely broke my site, made both the front-end and the admin panel unavailable with the 500 internal server error. I asked my hosting provider to remove it, that fixed it. I guess I’ll just stick with Jetpack’s Photon, however lacking that is, at least it didn’t f*ck up my installation.

I experienced the same when I tried to Network Activate it on my WordPress multisite which is not hosted on GoDaddy.

“Your backup has been sheduled and is waiting for WordPress to start it. This could take a few minutes, so now is a good time to go and grab a cup of coffee.”
