I have been using both the whole time, it has worked before.
The plugins haven’t been updated recently but the latest update of EDD might have broken their functionality.

Thanks for the screenshot. It confirms that the text parameter in the shortcode is not working. This is the shortcode I’m using : [purchase_link id=”1XXXX” text=”Click to Purchase” style=”button largebutton” color=”blue”]

It used to work for my first product but now both products just show the default “purchase” text and seem to ignore the text parameter I pass in the shortcode.

@pratik-jain Do you mean that you see “Click to Purchase” on the button?

UPDATE 2:

I created page rules in Cloudflare to bypass cache for the Checkout page and all underlying pages as well as for all downloads (the product pages).
Doing this seems to have solved the problems with adding the downloads to the carts. I’m surprised no one else has experienced this problems and I hope by sharing this solution I can avoid the frustration with other users that might experience this in the future.

One thing that is not solved yet is the text on the purchase button. This is the shortcode I’m using on https://www.wapititravel.com/blog/en/eguides/japan-trip-planner/.

As you can see the button just shows the default “purchase” text.

It would really appreciate if you could also have a look at my other question ( https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/downloads-getting-mixed-up/) regarding the mixed-up downloads. I don’t manage to solve this and it drives me crazy.

It hasn’t solved the problem.

Above I wrote that the wrong product is placed in the cart. Another issue is that sometimes nothing is placed in the cart. When clicking the button the text is replaced by a turning circle and it hangs.

I hope somebody can help me because this drives me crazy :-).

A popup should appear after 5 secs.
Enter any (fake) email address. These end up in a test group, you will never get any mails.
Click, subscribe, a ‘success page’ will show. This is where I want to show the button.
You will see that it currently shows the simple text as you said. (between the text and the image).

FYI: After you subscribed the popup will not show again until you delete your cookies.

@pratik-jain , thanks. I tried that too but the shortcodes are not recognized when I add them to these popups. The button does not appear.

Probably because these popups are not created in WordPress but in Mailerlite.

@ryankienstra, thanks, that’s a great workaround, but I was really looking for something that wouldn’t require any HTML-coding if possible.

Are there no plans to provide a field with a rich text editor?

The reason I ask is that I had this bunch of HTML code snippets that I had created for people who were not familiar with HTML-coding. All they had to do is replace the text in between the HTML-tags but this still caused problems sometimes as some tags sometimes got damaged.

These blocks seemed like an ideal solution. I put all the HTML in the templates and users didn’t have to worry about it anymore. This would require them to do some HTML-coding again…

It would be great if there was a solution where we could avoid this.

That’s why I thought it might have been related to Polylang.

Sorry, I thought that custom modifications were supported.

The shortcode shows a Scribd document inline in a WordPress post. See this URL for an example: https://en.support.wordpress.com/scribd/

I missed that this was only part of the core functionality on wordpress.com.
I don’t really like Jetpack and installing it just for this is like going after a mosquito with a bazooka.

I will look for alternatives.
