I have a lot of posts, and a lot of comments, that need fixing. is there an easy way to update the database, without having to go in and do a lot of typing? has someone already put together an update query that i might be able to pilfer? <grin>

In reply to: Secure Image for Login and RegistrationThanks whooami. I added that bit to my .htaccess, and i’ll hunt on that site to see if i can find what you’re talking about.
I’m using 2.0.2 (2.0.1 last night when i was attacked). This is the second time this month that i’ve been taken down. I can’t say why. Its a personal blog, and its not like i’m ever mean to anyone.
[shrug] oh well.

In reply to: Secure Image for Login and RegistrationThere have been no spam registrations reported here, so I don’t think that would be necessary.
well.. it just happened to me tonight. Over the period of about 2 hours someone (from the same IP address) ran through the registration process an average of 4 times per second.
All the “registrants” were sequential:
abcdefghijklmnfoo7.0007324218750
abcdefghijklmnfoo7.0007324218751
abcdefghijklmnfoo7.0007324218752
abcdefghijklmnfoo7.0007324218753
abcdefghijklmnfoo7.0007324218754 … etc …everytime someone registers WP sends them an email and me an email. in this case i was also recieveing “delivery failed” messages as well, since all the address were bogus.
becuase of all that email traffic i quickly blasted past my ISP’s per-hour email limit and was shut down.
I would love to have a secure image registration process.

In reply to: Help me get RSS working please.I tried that as well, and now my RSS feeds are working too ?? the offending plug-in in my case was the ‘Front Page Gategories’ plugin. not sure why, but all is well now that it’s disabled.

In reply to: $cat var not working in wordpress 1.5If you have the front page limited to only one category, then you need to have a category list somewhere else (sidebar/header). By clicking on the various category names, you will be taken to a list of all posts in that category.

In reply to: Only show posts from one Category on main pageUse the Front Page Categories plug in
I was using this for a while, but then someone told me that my RSS feeds were not aggegating properly. Once i deactivated this plug in, my feeds aggregated just fine again.
Is there a ‘show on front page’ plug in that will not screw up the feeds?
