deactivated all plug ins except s2m and went to 2015 theme and problem still exists.
@ Azunga,
“I found the issue. Many settings were reset in the most recent update and this was one of them as well as others. It was set to the correct page for members but another option in a different section was turned off disabling this.”
Which “different section” are you talking about? because… my members, after logging in are now being redirected to the join page, not my members start page. They can click the members only links and therefore… view what they want But the way it used to be prior to the update… every one was sent to the “members area”. I went into the dashboard and confirmed that the page was still set to members area and saved again. It didn’t work so I went to the entry below that and typed in the full url for the members page. Still doesn’t work. you mention that you looked in a different area and found something reset???? what- where???? LOL
Thanks KT
I think I am catching on KT and thank you.
So basically, the only way I can restrict the files is to not have them in the wordpress library to begin with? I understand that I can’t have it both ways… a member can’t go and view but also download (if they want)?
Instead, I offer a link (to the protected folder, file) and restrict that to whatever membership level? I think I have it now
@kt,
I looked over the API info and watched the video that was done by the developer. I moved the images into s2members-files, like you suggested and created sub folders “access-s2member-level1, 2, and 3. The idea was to store files destined for level 1 pages in one folder, level 2 files in #2, ect…
When I create a “membership level 2 page… I download from server from that folder. The problem is when I create a page and place the images in a gallery, they end up in the wordpress library which is ok BUT they are copied (I guess) back into wp-content/uploads/2014/12! Once there… they are publically available in the browser address bar to anyone! So I have missed a step somewhere a long the way.
I sure did! Thanks for pointing that out to me!

Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Stop Multiple Sizes of same Image in FTP for WordPress Library?@lee, thanks for responding! I really appreciate that… I’m a little confused still, well… a lot! What I tried was…
1. After creating the page where they will go, I save/publish it.
2. In Filezilla, I select the files I want moved/uploaded to the server and move them over to the right side of Filezilla (server side) and into the protected file.
3. I then go to my dashboard on wordpress and click the plugin, you suggested and click each box of the image, in that group I am uploading. At that time, I just see 1 file for 1 picture. So I click import and they end up in my dashboard’s media library.
4. I then open the page I have built and saved and install them.
Its when I return to my Filezilla, after the page is saved/published… sometimes I see 1 pic for pic but most of the time I see 4-5 image files per 1 pic. That is when I delete all the photos and keep the original “pic.jpg”.
I guess where I am confused is I think you are saying to go ahead and load them FIRST using my dashboard on wordpress? I don’t see a place to delete in the upload to server plug in on wordpress, the only place they can be deleted is in my filezilla?
@kt
Basically I should have realized this… hundreds of images ago?.?. Oh great! I will have to delete everything off of word press then reload into that file. I sure do appreciate all the help you have given me today. Even though half of it was bad news! LOL I will certainly give api scripting a read through tomorrow! Frankly, I was doing my best to avoid… just that! LOL Have a great night KT, Thanks again ??FYI and I just thought of this… so I don’t throw someone off base by what I said above “that I’m not really limited in wordpress.com.
To clarify, I have my own domain (its just that I use wordpress as the website builder) its not like what I think you were asking about… an actual wordpress.com site. Like https://www.mywebsite.wordpress.com. I hope I didn’t screw someone up!
First of all I have to say that you rock! I had to deviate somewhat from what you said but I knew exactly where you were headed with your suggestion. In my c-panel, in file manager, using win8, I wasn’t able to select the extracted file “s2member-pro/pro-module.php” I was only allowed to click and select the .php file. So I did exactly what you said to do after uploading the still compressed file into my file manager and then once it was there… then I extracted it and poof… S2memberPro is up and running on my wordpress dashboard! Thanks so much!
About the .com verses .org wordpress thing. I have read things in the forums about restrictions on the .com side, such as page limits, data capacity and so on and so I contacted my web hosting company and they said I am unlimited. As for the s2member free version and now the pro version working, I am told by the developers of s2member that it should work. Another words, if the free version works… so should the pro. We’ll see!
Thank you and have a great day!
My free version of s2member works fine and yesterday, I purchased the pro version and it fails to upgrade on my wordpress.com site. I have followed their instructions but I think something is missing. All I can extract is pro-module.php I thought a work around would be to create a folder and name it s2member-pro then move the pro-module.php into it and then website explodes with error messages. The instructions are pretty clear about the directory being “wp-content/plugins/s2member-pro/pro-module.php”
I’m not a great ftp person but I can fumble around with it. But to make sure… in my c-panel file manager, I am selecting my web root (public_html www) for the domain.
