Just incase anyone is interested or having a similar problem.
The site is now working and the hosting company gave me the following reason after fixing it.
Timthumb directory had incorrect permisions
mod_security exemptions were required to to prevent false positives against two rules
Hope that 2nd one means something to you, didn’t to me but site is working so all is good.
