Thank you; that did the trick.
Another week without a response. Have you looked into my problem?
Thanks.
I just noticed something else.
I switched from a static first page to having the blog as the first page. When I initially go to the site, the blog page appears without your plugin’s improvements. However, if you select the Blog link on the nav bar, your plugin’s improvements re-appear.
I hope this helps you to fix this problem.
Thank you. The blog now stays on my Blog page, and my static first page stays on the first page. But the blog is not reformatted – it looks just like it did before I found Blog Designer.
I tried several things – removing your plugin and re-installing it, changing settings – with no effect. I hope this one is easy to fix!
I appreciate your support.
I am hoping that you will have a suggestion soon.
I do not manually add [wp_blog_designer] on any page. It seems that your plugin deletes the contents of About and adds [wp_blog_designer].
Two settings seem to get reset by your plugin.
The relevant pages are About (which is static) and Blog. About is the static front page.
Without your plugin, this works.
When I deactivate your plugin, About turns up empty, so I restore an earlier version. Then everything is back to what it was before I used your plugin.
When I re-activate your plug, set it up, and save it, Blog appears, all nice and pretty. About, however, is blank. (More on this below.) When I look at Settings, I see that the front page is now Blog and the posts page is Blog, but it is still shown as a static first page. When I change the front page from Blog to About, About now has the pretty blog and Blog shows the old not-pretty blog. That’s what you’ll see now.
When I open About with the editor, I find [wp_blog_designer] as the only content. When I look at the revisions, the latest version shows the content I had left and the previous one as blank – and the “Restore This Revision” button is inoperable. When I slide back one space, the restore button is activated again.
I think the core problem is that your plugin insists on making the Blog/Posts page the first page and it doesn’t know how to handle a static first page.
The URL of my test WordPress site is here . If you see what I see,
- the About page will have the blog entries (2 of them) nicely formatted by your plugin (but in the wrong place);
- the Blog page will have the blog entries without the nice formatting; and
- the Compendium page and it’s sub-page are working as expected.
I hope you can tell me what’s going on. Thanks,
