Help!

I found that no matter what permalink code I try to put in it’s still looking for /%category&/%postname%/ in the 404 error. The only permalink that works is “default”.

All plugins are deactivated…

Still broken..

Possibly the theme? What did they change in the permalinks code that broke my site!

Ok figured it out… Duh.

I forgot to put a wildcard in my domain registrar’s (godaddy) “A” record.

*.mysite.com “mysites IP Address”

That get’s the wildcard typed into my browser to my server that handles the rest.

Let us know how it works out.

I smell load balanced servers… 100meg connections and a whole lot of $$$.

Well I followed that tutorial, and it was the same as one I had already followed. I can ping test.mysite.com on my local server and if I put test.mysite.com into the browser on the local server I get mysite.com

But from the outside on another machine I get a “server can’t be reached”

“I think” you’re safer with only www owning it because the root account has a lot more permissions. If they gain access to your web folder you can always just change the password, fix the hole and restore a backup. If they can access to your root account well.. All kinds of Nasty.

Yup. There is a plugin called “WP-DBManager” that can repair the database.

Try it out.. but make a backup of the database first (also in the same plugin)

Ok.. I just read the part about the “400 tables”

You need to find the site ID for that site. Then you need to find the tables in the database that belong to that site. Once you find them it should be easy to track down the post table for that site.

Did you look in the database?
I don’t know if you’re using PC or Mac but on the Mac I use Sequel Pro (Free) or you can user PHPMyAdmin or one of the WordPress Database Plugins.

Anyway.. look in the mysql database for that site and see if the posts are in there.

Don’t you have a backup of the site?
You should be running at least weekly backups if not daily.

Never Mind.. My Bad. I cleared my browsers cache and now it works!

No something is seriously wrong.. I have reinstalled several times with new databases and everything. I have it now where my site is “associatedgrocers.ag” without the www but when I enable multisite everything gets messed up. I can’t log into the admin page it just tries to add a bunch of stuff to the end of the url but never logs in.

Ok so I figured out that if I edit wp-config.php and take out the WWW. in my multisite enable line that the sub sites will work!

Problem is that then the main blog stops working! it’s looking for the main site a https://www. but it wants the sub sites at https://
