That works: reinstalled Jetpack 2.0 and disallowed sharing on any page/post; the forum shows once and works fine.

The same doubling happened with my Mingle Forum; when I deleted Jetpack, the problem was resolved.

BTW as well as making the forum appear twice, it disabled the forum posting editor.

Many thanks – plugin reinstalled, tested and working fine.

The error message is all I got – the plugin page never opened up.

I tried to deactivate the plugin but it would not allow this. I therefore deleted the folder in FTP view and reinstalled the plugin, then was able to deactivate it.

I get this error message:

WPTouch plugin detected! Please go to the Supercache plugins page and enable the WPTouch helper plugin.

But that is on the plugins’ page – and as I cannot see it, I cannot follow that instruction.

Had to disable the plugin – which (frankly) is rather terrible at the best of times.
And what’s all this FTP nonsense?

Thanks, esmi, for your advice. I think the problem is with Google Chrome. I have tried the three suggestions you made, with no difference – but the feed does appear in Google when I use Firefox… weird.

I cannot login either and I didn’t delete anything.

Found the problem and fixed it: it was the Janrain Engage plugin. I deselected the ‘social’ button appearing on every page – and it wrecked the site.
Luckily, I remembered what I’d done and when I checked the plugin, found it had stopped working. I got the API key, entered it, reactivated and lo and behold, all the WP content reappeared.
The problem with this Janrain Engage plugin is that deselecting ‘social’ from appearing on every post and page, also cripples the page. I doubt the developer of the plugin has a clue what is happening.
