@userpqr you saved me from a heart attack.
Indeed after update, all menus stopped working.
I installed Enable jQuery Migrate Helper plugin as you suggested and set the Jquery version to legacy. For the time being, menus work again as they used, so we have time to find if theme or some plugin is causing the issue.
At least we don’t have to revert to the latest backup.
