In reply to: Failed Upgrade from 2.8 to 2.8.1I had the same problem, with two updates on two different domains, but with different files giving the errors. It even caused my server control panel to crash, twice!
I had to restart the Plesk control panel on my server, and then performed manual updates via FTP of WP and both sites worked fine.
I used the auto update before this with no problems, but never again!

The page displayed from your link above says your database does not need upgrading – I assume you have since done this successfully?

In reply to: Smiley always at the beginning !?!?Not much help I know, but I had this with a theme I once tried (can’t remember which one), except it would put the smiley at the start of the next line! – So I assume it must be a problem with the themes files somewhere.

In reply to: Uploading imagesI have had the same problem and found that I had to create the new folder(s) using my server control panel (Plesk 8.1.1) – I use WS-FTP and although this says the folder is ‘777’, my control panel told me different!

In reply to: Database Meltdown…..help neededOne year on (nearly to the day) and this post still helped me…
My database also suddenly gave the same error – I just went to MyPHP Admin and into the MySQL database table, and selected the entry ‘wp_posts’ and selected ‘repair’ – 5 seconds later it all worked!
