1) I disagree. The search and replace I am talking about is for posts and pages.
2) Perhaps full search and replace that went into plugins would be dangerous and ill advised.
3) And no, none of the plugins work for when you are composing as they would work when you are using a word-processor or primitive text editor.
4) Simple scrolling is available in any word-processor or text editor.
