No, that didn’t help. I double checked that all folders were set to 755. All php files are 644. Hostgator does not recommend 777 for security reasons. Makes sense to me.

Yeah, vaguely. Thanks! I changed the folder permissions in public_html to 777. Most of the php files are 644, but I don’t plan to edit individual php files (at least not on a code level, if that makes sense). [Kinda talking out my butt here.]

I should mention that this is for an addon domain. It’s my first attempt to manage two domains under the same roof.

chmodding… I’m beyond my depth. I’ll have to look that one up!

Robin, it’s ariaconstruction.net, and it should have propogated by now. I transferred the domain and installed WP 3 or so nights ago.
