Ok, @psykro I’ve emailed you back with the details on the results and a couple of thoughts beyond what I’m adding in here for everyone else.

It does stream from your hosting. The most perplexing part is that initially the Google Podcast app did stream from our hosting, but stopped doing so after about 3 episodes or so.

My process for adding the new audio is to FTP the files in, use Add from Server to put into Media Library and then put into episode using SS. Permissions are 644 rw – r – – r – –

Couple of additional thoughts –
Any chance that the process or the permissions are the cause of the problem? Nothing changed from the beginning when it did work.

As to the hosting – we use Vultr (same as DO, AWS, etc) cloud with our own installation of WHM and cPanel, and we have our own IP addresses, so this isn’t like we’re stuck on some crappy EIG shared account.

@psykro — Can you do me a favor and resend the last email with the URL in it, I’ve just spent about an hour searching for it and I cannot figure out where it went.

When you hit the play, it goes to Buffering and then finally says “Streaming isn’t available for this episode. Try downloading.

Just tested on brand new Android phone, and this is still not working properly.

When are we going to have a solution?

If you uploaded the file via FTP, try using Add from Server to put it into your Media Library and then creating the episode using it. Our episodes are usually larger than the file upload size we allow (we have other users besides us and we find they sometimes have no clue how large their uploads get), so that’s the process we have used from episode #1.

Yes, I would like to know as well, we were just discussing upgrading to 7.2 earlier today –

Ooh, BI style dashboard, hadn’t thought of that. Someone like Cyfe or similar, that’s a very interesting idea.

@thequicksilver — we use SSP ‘straight out of the box’ so to speak, no proxy, no tracking services, we do use the stats module from SSP.

Variety of Androids that we’ve had the issue with, I can’t find one that will play the episodes, old or new.

We are still seeing this problem as well with the Google Podcast app but still not with the Google Play Music app, I just checked the latest 5 episodes to see if there was any change in the output versus the two apps.
Very strange.

The only one that is working is Episode 60, dated Feb 21. The rest are initially buffering, then they pop the error.

We have now tested it on two more Android phones – so we have a total of 2 US phones and 1 Canada that are all exhibiting the same symptoms – playing in Google Play Music but not in Google Play Apps.
