Sorry, I lied. I also had WP-PageNavi 2.72 installed.

I deleted both plugins, installed the PageNavi 2.73 (newest) and
WP-UserOnline 2.80 (newest). Both are working fine.

Just this one.

I receive the same error fatal error when upgrading automatically. Running WP 3.0.1.

Deleted the v2.80 files and reinstalled v2.72 with no problem.

I also use the WP-PageNavi plugin.

Did the WP dashboard automatic upgrade from 2.71 (which originally failed) to 2.72 and got a “fatal error” message with no other details.

Running WP 2.9.2.

Update:

After disabling the 2.71 upgrade by renaming the plugin directory via FileManager in CPanel, I changed the name back to the original in preparation for deleting the plugin and all files.

Just for kicks, I re-activated the 2.71 plugin and it works fine! Can access wp-admin (Site Admin) OK now.

The 2.71 automatic upgrade fails and crashes wp-admin with the error:

Fatal error: Call to undefined method scbOptions::get_key() in /home4/handyma5/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wp-useronline/admin.php on line 56

I had to log into cPanel on BlueHost.com and rename the plugin directory to access wp-admin.
