Yes, it is activated. I changed grid layout for content-bar and sidebar so they occupy half of page each, but that did not work. Here is single.php of my child theme. It is basically a parent theme single,php with above modifications.

So what is the best solution? If I include child function.php with reference to new navigation menu js file will it override parent theme functions? I like bizway theme so would really want to learn how to change nav menu.

No, I want a new navigation menu to be included. No I did not use Appearance>Menus. Now as I looked it through I can not see how it can resolve this issue. It simply changes the default menu.

Still does not work after clearing cache. Tried it with another theme. It is strange that child theme grabs parent style.css, but can not change anything as in examples.

.site-title a {color: #009900;} did not change site title colour to green.

WPyogi, I just trying to learn how to make child themes at my localhost.
I did not change Twentyten theme at all, just used this guide to import parent css settings to the child theme https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Child_Themes

But that does not work.

I put it in \wp-content\themes. Now it may be seen on my Dashboard, but when I activate it the template structure is wrong however I imported css format from the parent theme. How to fix this?

May be I am not clear. What options I have in changing my index page? How can I replace an index page in downloaded theme with a new without breaking integrity of the theme.?

I copied another theme to the wp-contents folder and it worked. Probably, the previous theme did not have those files. Thanks.
Can you explain why the access to WP themes may be denied from inside WP admin?
