  • I have had this same problem. What’s more, I completely uninstalled my blog. Cleared everything out of my cPanel related to this installateion.

And I am STILL being redirected! What the HELL!?!?!?!?

Okay, whoa, dude! Not all of us have wide monitors! I could only see about 80% of the site.

And I guarantee, if you post pictures upload tool (the “media” icon above the post toolbar), they will automatically become thumbnails on the front page, and will draw the eye down, encouraging scroll.

    My .02.

Pretty brave, using the Hemingway theme! I understand it has a lot of problems, but the unique look (which is a RARE thing in WP themes) is pretty cool.

Yeah, Splash Pages are getting a little passe. And yeah, the theme is wrong (Rhand, I seem to be stalking you!).

The colors are not so bad together, pink and gray. It’s the layout. Header Navigation is all wrong.

Do you have it posted elsewhere? I would have love to have taken a look! ??

P.S. I agree with Rhand about the favicon.

It will also make your site look more professional, believe it or not!

What you’ve basically done is to have encoded a long sales page into a WP blog post–or was it a page?

I think people really like balance in a page, especially when they have a lot of large text and images coming at them.

The problem with those loooonnggg sales pages, is that they are teaching our customers and clients to develop the VERY bad habit of scanning the page without really even reading it–even FASTER than they normally do! Of course, that’s why red, over-sized text is so popular. It’s been known to grab the attention and tell a scanning reader that this might be informative, slow down. As long as it doesn’t overwhelm a page.

At first, I was enjoying your site. Above the fold, I love the image rotation (too bad they don’t link to posts) and the header’s not bad either; I love the rotating testimonials. Your sidebar modules, “Join now”, “Podcast” and “Subscribe Now” are all above the fold, and makes a visitor think he’s reached an important place. It may slow him down long enough to take a closer look.

And what does he see when he scrolls down?

    A Loooonnnggg Sales Page.
    I vote no. Sorry.

    Awesome!

And please, I must know, was the “English” translation banner that stayed across the corner–was that WP plugin, by any chance? And if so, please name it?

    thanks.

I don’t speak nor read ANY Chinese, but I went and looked anyway. You’re using WordPress, so there’s a couple of things I can look for, without needing be able to read the content.

In actuality, the site layout, while typical WordPress, is still easy to read–if you speak Chinese, of course! ?? Lots of whitespace. That’s good for ease of reading.

It’s also easy to navigate, even tho I can’t read it. The header says IT as well as some Chinese words. With that, I can tell that your blog is about HTML, SEO and WordPress and such, which tells me you are sharing what you are know. Bravo. Your categories are well-labeled in English, I can only assume the same can be said in Chinese.

I wonder if you think more graphics might be in order? On each post you make, you can include a picture at the beginning of the post, and it will automatically become a thumbnail (much smaller picture) on the front page where your new posts are listed.

I suggest this because “they” say that pictures help the reader stick with the page instead of clicking away. Old saying: “A picture is worth a thousand words.” I don’t remember who said that.

Since your site is mainly blue/white, wherever you put a splash of an opposite color (on the colorwheel and in the same family “tone” OR one of the pictures mentioned above!), the reader’s attention will be drawn there–like a vacuum cleaner–making it quite the attention-getter. In the case of your site as it is today–orange, yellow and a little bit of red would do the trick. Don’t overdo red. Ever.
