Yeah, in the same boat as virap. I was looking for something that would allow me to text all users with a particular role, which is supposed to be out-of-the box functionality here. As far as I can see, “per the triggers set in the backend” means it will send SMS notifications based on the events set on the notifications page, but I don’t see much else, unless I’m meant to write my own hooks and interface for anything else I need.

But I may also be missing something.

Well, the only conflict is between theme switcha and something else, since everything else works fine otherwise. But on my live site, I can’t disable other plugins, so I guess I’m out of luck. I understand this kind of plugin must be difficult to provide and can’t work in all cases; thanks for trying.

I initially didn’t think to check the curl version in use on this account (mostly because until last week it ran a drupal ecommerce package that had no problem connecting to the paypal sandbox with the new TLS version). The OpenSSL version is out of date and cannot connect to the paypal sandbox, which explains why the connection could not be made.

I am using 4.0.14, but this is still failing for me. It does appear to be failing back to using SSL as described in the blog post, but the chatback is still not connecting:
